Then what do you do for the next 8 years with Bryzgalov? Tossing in the towel on him after 40 games one year into a 9 year deal could have serious ramifications with his head, as well as enticing another goalie to come in later. - Jsaquella
Bryzgalov is here to stay. There is no other option at this point. Flyers made the commitment and need to stick with it. Play the guy, that simple. He cant be any worse then what he was today. |

It absolutely would, no question about it.
Trading for Nabokov now could have serious ramifications on the next 9 years. Bringing in a new starter now...you'd better pray that there's an amnesty buyout and that Snider is cool with writing a $41mm check to kick a guy to the curb - Jsaquella
while I believe that bryz could rebound nxt yr -I think he's spent this season - amnesty has to be in the back of homers mind...and you know it's the main thing he's thinking of if he actually brings in another goalie. |

One of the next move has to be for a goalie (Nabakov?). Why give away a nice part of your future for a pair of D rentals when the bigger question mark is in net?
When your goaltenders are letting in lob shots from the top of the circle, and kicking it in their own net, I can't see how a temporary upgrade on D will be beneficial in ether the short or the long run. - 77rams
I'm not familiar with Grossman or Kubina as far as leadership roles, but the Flyers did just add two more veterans to the room for the stretch.
No idea if that's part of the reasoning, but you never know.

Well giving Nabakov a look doesn't mean they would have to commit to him beyond this year. Bring him in, see how he does, if he stands on his head then a tough decision has to be made. Can't give up on Bryzgalov after 35 starts when he has a pretty good resume, but realistically it's become worrisome. - PLindbergh31
Unless there is an amnesty clause next year, (the owners are crooning for it), so I have to think it looks good, than it would be ok, but only if they have a plan on what to do with what they already have.
I have to think Snow would rape us for Nabokov, he can easily stand to lose him for nothing, why give him to us now? |

Not sure what Berniers price tag would be. Could be steep for a guy that is still unproven. - PLindbergh31
scouts are almost unanimously in love w/ him and see him as super technically sound. imagine if we got him and simmonds instead of schenn and bryz...and I really like schenn, but... |

No, it doesn't. But it does mean that you're saying to Bryzgalov, who is already battling confidence issues, that you have no faith in him.
It's been worrisome for awhile. Adding Nabokov or other established NHL starter makes it worse. They've shored up the defense, now it's time for Bryz to do his part. |

Why would Sather want to mess with that chemistry? - 77rams
Rangers only have 3 guys they can count on to score. Callahan, Richards, and Gaborik. I would be surprised if they didn't go out and add a guy who can fill the net. Regardless of how good they are in goal, and on defense you can't rely on winning every playoff game 1-0, or 2-1. |

If they bring Bernier in here, hope he's a confident guy. First soft goal, he gets to read the stellar analysis of Carchidi and Seravalli wondering if Hoivonen is ready |

Because that's what Slats loves to do . They should actually go after Shane Doan or Brenden Morrow instead if they are looking for more on wings. Those guys would add to the leadership group. |

Yeah. They are in between a rock and a hard place. The simple answer is for Bryzgalov to significantly improve his play. Is that realistic? I'm not sure. The defense is better than it was without question. It's never a dull moment with this team. At the very least they are entertaining to watch while being competitive. |

Kubina played with Mezzy and Carle at some point when they were both in Tampa. That may help to speed up the chemistry depending on who he is paired with. I would still rather see Carle with Grossman. Mezzy with Kubina.
And then pray to god Bryz gets some confidence. |

The defense has been upgraded. The team defense needs to get better. The goaltending needs to step up and provide some stability. The Flyers could be a very dangerous team if they play some defense. |

Exactly. I know Bernier is a big prospect, and he's stuck behind Quick, but he isn't a sure fire answer. I think the Flyers will have to sink or swim with the duo they have at least through next season. |
