Yea If you watched that interview after the game he didn't quite shoulder it all on himself which kinda surprised me. But when he does they just say how he quit blah blah blah. But I think he gets for lack of better term, rattled when he sees all those oddman rushes coming in such a short amount of time. And I'm sorry but he is bad at stopping those shots coming from skaters barreling down the wing. That is something I think Reese needs to get fixed with him. - JoeRussomanno
yup barreling down the wing, and from the slot, the point, the crease, the dot..........oooooooooooooo |

The Kubina trade is to play the point on the first pp unit. He is a huge upgrade to anyone we currently have including Mezzy and Carle. Kubina will help the pp and I think is a good addition. Grossman as gross as it sound will also be a good addition. There is only one serious problem at the moment but I won't go there - flyerdude17
I mentioned earlier in the thread that Kubina has zero PP points this season. Not sure if that is a product of him not getting regular PP time in TB, or what. |

Yep. Well said. Laviolette has very little patience with goaltenders as we have seen, now that Bobrovsky's play has fallen off a cliff, Bryzgalov has to be given a chance to play his way out of this. - PLindbergh31
You'd think so...but we will see. I'd be happy as a pig in poop if Bob was still making a case that he deserved to be the guy...right now, he's statistically even with Bryzgalov.
As Joe pointed out, Bryzgalov is used to playing every night. Well, let's see if it helps him to do so here. |

Realistically, for both the long and short term health of their guy, they need to let him play.
Neither Kubina or Grossman are Pronger. But they are solid veteran defenseman, who not only should be more solid than MAB and Gus, but also should ease the burdens on Carle, Coburn and Meszaros, as well as help Timonen to conserve some ice time.
Now, Bryzgalov has to improve. There's not another option. He needs to play and play and play. He can't have a bad game like today and wonder if he's playing the next game. - Jsaquella
Exactly. Playing on a defensive oriented system has helped Bryzgalov's game with the Yokes but at the same time, he played most night if not every night. |

Snider pretty much gave himself no other option than to do that by giving him such a long term contract. Snider told Holmgren to fix the goaltending. Holmgren signed the best guy available for a ton of years and cash, at Snider's behest.
Is it worth rolling the dice on Nabokov to risk turning Bryz into a basket case? - Jsaquella
Nabokov, playoffs .914, 2.29
Bryzgalov, playoffs .917, 2.53
So Bryz saw a LOT more rubber if they have nearly equal sv% but bryz's GA is significantly higher.

Kubina's been getting the 4th most PP time among defensemen in TB. He does have a good, hard shot. He's got his weaknesses, too, but he's a big RH shot... |

Exactly. I know Bernier is a big prospect, and he's stuck behind Quick, but he isn't a sure fire answer. I think the Flyers will have to sink or swim with the duo they have at least through next season. - PLindbergh31
Exactly, Bernier is highly rated but could strike out here as well. It is almost like it is a mental thing for goalies playing here with all the negative history. As for Mike Smith it should be pointed out that he has been a star in a good portion of Coyote wins and has had several 35 and up save perfomances and a few in the 40's. I watch all Coyotes games and seriously he is their mvp by a longshot despite Vrbata and Whitney bringing it every night. |

I have no more answers for Bryz other than get in net and save the puck. |

this is a career nadir for bryz, is it not? - isaiah520
Stats-wise, not really, in that he had a 2.98 GAA and a .906 SV% in 2008-09, compared with 2.79 and a .900 this year. Neither are stellar.
I would say he can only get better (from this year). Give him (most of) the starts the rest of the year and let it play out. |

Probably. Bryz played on a team that relied on team defense and clearing rebounds. Also went up against juggernaut Red Wings teams when he was the starter. Nabokov played on deep Sharks teams. |

TB plays 4 forwards on the PP usually so Kubina hardly got any PP minutes |

I hope Kabina wears 77 but I'm assume he'll end up with 13. |

Oh, but John, all of Bryz's goals are soft like puppy fur and all of Bob's goals were terribly tough like Ghengis Khan's marauding hoards! You know this is true! |

no the barreling down the wing is his worst spot. I can say what you said about any goalie, now stop it or I'm putting you on my 2real list. |

So he's playing second unit PP, you would think with Stamkos usually staying out for a full 2 minutes during each Lightning PP, Kubina would have gotten an assist blindfolded... |
