no the barreling down the wing is his worst spot. I can say what you said about any goalie, now stop it or I'm putting you on my 2real list. - JoeRussomanno
haha 2real was mentioned in the LA boards by Matt Barry

Oh, but John, all of Bryz's goals are soft like puppy fur and all of Bob's goals were terribly tough like Ghengis Khan's marauding hoards! You know this is true! - bodiva88
The expectations for Bryzgalov, and Bobrovsky are night and day. (And rightfully so). Bryzgalov should be out preforming him by a wide margin. |

I mentioned earlier in the thread that Kubina has zero PP points this season. Not sure if that is a product of him not getting regular PP time in TB, or what. - PLindbergh31
Sorry I jumped in late and missed that. Kubina has had off and on years but in his good years he has done very well on the pp. He has a big shot and sees the ice well. I like this trade. Not likely he will be back next year because he is a ufa and will be overpaid by somebody. Flyers will have to sign Grossman before they sign Kubina I would think but not likely both. |

Stats-wise, not really, in that he had a 2.98 GAA and a .906 SV% in 2008-09, compared with 2.79 and a .900 this year. Neither are stellar.
I would say he can only get better (from this year). Give him (most of) the starts the rest of the year and let it play out. - Flyskippy
I see no other choice, but I would try and get a new b/u. |

Exactly, Bernier is highly rated but could strike out here as well. It is almost like it is a mental thing for goalies playing here with all the negative history. As for Mike Smith it should be pointed out that he has been a star in a good portion of Coyote wins and has had several 35 and up save perfomances and a few in the 40's. I watch all Coyotes games and seriously he is their mvp by a longshot despite Vrbata and Whitney bringing it every night. - flyerdude17
Smith has never approached numbers like he is putting up this year. Perhaps there is something to Tippet's system that is goaltender friendly. |

So he's playing second unit PP, you would think with Stamkos usually staying out for a full 2 minutes during each Lightning PP, Kubina would have gotten an assist blindfolded... - PLindbergh31
Stamkos isn't scoring off rebounds. Marty's feeding him like a veal.
Funny thing is, looking at the PP production of their defensemen, only MA Bergeron is doing anything. He's got 9 points(8 helpers). Eric Brewer has 3 assists, Bruno Gervais has 1 goal and 1 assist, and Brendan Mikkelson-who they just got recently-has a helper. |

No doubt. One is a veteran and been around for years, the other is in his second year. Bryz is suppose to be a top tier goalie in this league and its time to perform with the upgrades on defense. |

He does have a big shot, and is right handed. He can def help. Just because he didn't contribute to Tampa's PP, doesn't mean he can't help the Flyers PP |

There is. Tippett is a strict defense first coach. His teams usually don't allow glorious chances and clear rebounds like they could kill their moms. |

And then the b/u outplays him by chance when he struggles, and then there goes the "what do we do with him now"? gig
no matter who you bring in, it sends a bad message |

And, let's face it, Dominic Moore got somebody a 2nd rounder. It's not impossible to add them if needed. |

Dominic Moore 3 years in a row a 2nd rounder at that |

people keep mentioning their commitment to team defense. maybe the flyers should look into that because i have certainly noticed that the games where the flyers play decent team D it sure has helped both bryz and bob's numbers. might be some sort of correlation there. |

Just so everyone knows Bryz's numbers over the last 10 starts not including the one relief of Bob against NJ are= 2.10 gaa and .928 so yea let's kick the guy to the curb because hey even when he was out the team was playing so great on these afternoon games right? |

I suggest the Tampa Bay / New Jersey trap.... with Kubina enroute he will help the trapping |

can't continue w/ the current duo- they've failed. at least have a b/u ready in case of injury cause bob has wilted as much as bryz- there has to be some change. |

Not me. Stick with what we have and deal with it. When the TDL passes, the players know they have to find the answers within themselves and trust each other.

They are completely symbiotic but according to some here he is paid to stop whatever comes his way. Even though goalies who are paid more struggle at times and do not always do these things. |

Smith showed signs of this early on in his career with Dallas but was hit with head injury problems. Tampa thought highly enough of him to deal for him as their starter but he had injuries again. He is a breakout goalie that seems to have put it together at 29 I believe he is. No doubt Tippett has instilled some real confidence in him just like he gets through to all of his players. Smith has always had the talent. |

Absolutely get your gist and agree with the sentiment implied by the sarcasm.
I still wonder what we'd have here if Bob was "the guy" again this season with a different backup. Surely, we wouldn't have what we would have expected from Bryz, but Bob + confidence instilled in him from the team as opposed to being made second fiddle = ??? > What we have now. |
