can't continue w/ the current duo- they've failed. at least have a b/u ready in case of injury cause bob has wilted as much as bryz- there has to be some change. - isaiah520
If Bob is moved, then it has to be for a decent asset. I don't just move him to get a different guy. |

people keep mentioning their commitment to team defense. maybe the flyers should look into that because i have certainly noticed that the games where the flyers play decent team D it sure has helped both bryz and bob's numbers. might be some sort of correlation there. - Don'tForgetTocchet

I have seen almost every game this year, yes at times the flyers have had egregious breakdowns, and have missed assignments, poor coverage, turnovers etc, I would be willing to bet that they have no more than majority of other teams.
I would say conservatively the Flyers have allowed 35 soft goals this year, meaning no one is at fault except the goaltender. That is enormous. Cut that number in half, and the Flyers easily are 5-6 points better. |

Just so everyone knows Bryz's numbers over the last 10 starts not including the one relief of Bob against NJ are= 2.10 gaa and .928 so yea let's kick the guy to the curb because hey even when he was out the team was playing so great on these afternoon games right? - JoeRussomanno
really joe? stop! his play speaks for itself. we just have to cross our fingers and hope...but let's not delude ourselves. if you're holding your breath every time there's even a decent chance, what do you think his teammates are thinking? |

The expectations for Bryzgalov, and Bobrovsky are night and day. (And rightfully so). Bryzgalov should be out preforming him by a wide margin. - PLindbergh31
You know what. The job is the job. And whoever does it better is the guy I want in there. And I don't really care how much money either of them makes, I'm not sitting around making excuses for poor little bobby and acting like he's some freaking savior coming into games. I was so annoyed at the stupid flyers fans today I rooted for the Pens after they brought Bob in.

yep, but to not make any goalie move is tantamount to a forfeiture of this season, imo. it's mid-Feb... |

Absolutely get your gist and agree with the sentiment implied by the sarcasm.
I still wonder what we'd have here if Bob was "the guy" again this season with a different backup. Surely, we wouldn't have what we would have expected from Bryz, but Bob + confidence instilled in him from the team as opposed to being made second fiddle = ??? > What we have now. - Flyskippy
I'd like to think Bob would have answered the bell but what if the last 4 games out of him were 10-15 instead? This team might not be in the playoffs. Bill wrote a blog covering the difference in numbers when Bryz loses and when he wins. They are not winning in spite of him. Is he holding them back? I can't see how that's the case when they are probably the only team in the NHL that can find a way to lose in their own building when the goalie posts a s/o through three periods and OT. |

perhaps, perhaps not. personally i think it has been much more of a problem for them this season than in previous seasons. very inconsistent imo.

It's foolish for any fans to turn it into a competition between the goaltenders. I haven't seen anyone suggest Bobrovsky is a savior. This notion that fans want to see Bryzgalov fail is hogwash imo. If he fails it completely screws this team for 5+ years. |

Snider is why he's making what he's making. He panicked and now he's got a goalie with a big red target on his back. Good work cadaver man. |

No Isaiah you're the guy that wants to throw his numbers in everyone's face now that I've shown you the guy has put together a stretch of good play don't make the few bad games in that stretch into the microcosm because even the numbers back me up. |

No question. When you have 7-8 rookies in the lineup at once, it's going to happen. There is no way around it. The number of rookies have been cut down by 2 with the additions of Grossman, and Kubina. Lets see if it helps. |

I said this earlier like you. w/ all of the youth and other changes, I haven't seen anything that unusual w/ regards to breakdowns. not saying these things are excusable and couldn't stand improvement, but we know where the majority of the issues lie. |

yup yup. which is why i disagree with the sky is falling freakouts that sometimes occur in here. i'm waiting to see if carle gets dealt... if he doesn't we're going into the stretch with a mature decent D despite missing pronger. i'm okay with that. |

No question about it. It's a team game, when the team makes a mistake it's up to the goaltender to pick them up, and this year there has been very little of this. Flyers have sure done their part bailing out the goaltenders by being the highest scoring team in the League. |

no joe, the numbers are selective because what good are they if they involve implosions at key junctures in divisional gms? so even the better numbers are deceiving because they are unable to conceal the constant reminder that bryz is one of the 5 worst starting goalies in the league. just stop the softies and I'll shut up. I gave him full marks for the NYI gm and ignored the skills competition result...then we get the implosions...

The Flyers d core is a very competitive group right now. No reason to think they can't be very solid. |
