And one-time Pulitzer finalist. Hard to imagine. He once was a legitimate journalist with some chops. - bodiva88
He used to be one hell of a writer, and could write knowledgeably about just about any sport (hockey being his self-admitted weakest but he got much better in a hurry). Even in his early days on WIP, he played it straight.
That guy is gone, at least professionally. He chose be an "entertainer" instead, and has made a lot more money at that than he ever did as a well-respected sportswriter. |

My son played with the sons of a couple Flyers last season. Just treat them like you did us weirdos at the BuzzGate and you'll be fine. - Flyskippy
LOL yeah.. I'm not worried.. it's Matt's dad that kindly offered. Also, he told me that a whole group of guys from the military met with Matt and others recently, as the players were happy to take some time for military folks. |

You should take Lukin to the game with you, sounds like his kind of fun. - Marc D
Dear God. Best idea is to just bring Lukin as insurance.. If they looled crosseyed at us, he'd be the one doing the chasing. |

I'm not Bill, but I liked Voracek on Giroux line. I'm not sure why they are taking him off and adding Simmonds... Maybe just to get different looks, but in the end I think its a good thing. If Giroux and Jagr have that chemistry, it isnt going anywhere, and if they need to reunite them at some point, then the worst that has happened is you now know what lines work and what lines dont. Its a good time to do things with the team struggling... you dont want to have to start shuffling your lines for thef first time int he playoffs... - RooNosHockey
Smells like desperation to me. Last year, Leino, Hartnell, and Briere were inseperable. They didn't monkey with it. Worries me that they aren't allowing their top line ot play through a "slump". |

Flyers goalie Ilya Bryzgalov took a shot off his hand in practice, but should be good to go tonight at Winnipeg. The Flyers start a four-game trip at Winnipeg tonight and find themselves in fifth in the Eastern Conference. Bryzgalov has had plenty of ups and downs this season and any note regarding anything he says or does on or off the ice comes under intense scrutiny.

Excuse his bellicosity.
I get along with other teams' fans more anymore. The crap spouted about Bryz - and everyone trying to top everyone else in being more funny or crude than the last person is wearing thin. This behavior is what caused me to give up the Eagles in the early 90's. Ugh. |

Been skating hard since they diagnosed his symptoms could be coming from the neck issue. It is weird because before when he was having symptoms he wasn't allowed on the ice but now he has been allowed to go all out (no contact) even with symptoms. Not sure if they think it has to do with the neck now and not the concussion or what. I hope they shut him down till August. |

oh I agree Skip...
I know I post a few frustrated things but all in all it's all pointing to something positive. it's not the sky is fallen approach and let's bury him with negativity. I want him to do well, i want the whole flippin team to do well...
After a while, I would rather just flip the channel or change the radio station...not worth my time. |

changing sports did anyone see what Rondo did to deserve to be suspended two games?
I don't agree with abusing officials but it was classic to see a player throw the ball to the ref... |

Yeah I get along with mostly everyone in here. Been a few scraps but that is expected. ha
Yeah I can see that could be exhausting dealing with day in and day out. I for one haven't been annoyed this year yet because I haven't been on alot to read. (stupid work. ) haha |

They should just shut him down for the season. It's not like he is 33 and fading. He has so much hockey in him. Young kids push themselves so hard to come back, that it effects them later. He needs to be healthy. For hockey and for himself. |

There was talk, before this season started and obviously before Pronger was injured, that the Flyers could struggle to make the playoffs. Then, they beat the two Stanley Cup Finalists in 6 days, and put together a pretty-good October. They are not struggling to make the playoffs, but they're not a well-oiled machine like the Rangers appear to be, either. They're good enough to get into the playoffs and make some noise. Whether they're good enough to "flip the switch" and make a run akin to 2010 is to be determined. Bryz's numbers look a lot better since Jan. 1.
Yes, there are reasons for concern, but out and out panic, giving up, or cannibalizing fans of the team who dare hope for the best in light of what some feel are the direst of circumstances (no Pronger, leaky goalies) are quite silly.
My $.02. YMMV. |

Agreed completely. Knowing his competitiveness from interviews of teammates and watching him for six years I hope he doesn't "cheat" his way through test just to get cleared. |

Carchidi is a prince compared to Panaccio. Always thought he managed to always pick out the negatives, even after wins, as the beat guy. On his board I called him out about the things he said about Steve Downey. I told him that unless he had a psychologist's shingle he should be careful about expressing opinion's about a players mental health. That got me a warning from the referee. I never went back to his board. Who needs it. Last year he did a hatchet job on Zherdev before he ever put the Flyers sweater. I'm not necessarily a fan of Downey or Zherdev, they're big boys and don't need me defending them but it bugs me to see the media who are supposed to be objective and responsible assassinate a player's character. Clarkie was right about Panaccio. It's unfortunate that he's hooked up with comcast. - 2731color
I'll never forget that video where Clarke told Pinaccio how he thought about him - Classic.

It all depends on the match ups. If we had played Washington or Pitt in 2010, we wouldn't have made it. If it weren't for a few key injuries and a rookie goalie choking. And perhaps a timely "too many men on the ice" penalty, we almost didn't make it. I like this team. I like them better with the 2 additions. Are we a contender? Mentally no. Talent wise, absolutely. If they start to believe, play as a team and tough up mentally, a cup could be here in June. Without a doubt. |

this is the first time in a very long time that the Flyers allowed the young players to play most of the year. With that comes growing pains and then you add in a new goalie and it can be tough at times watching the team. I still believe this team has the assets to make some noise.
I do like the d-man pick ups because as much as i do like Carle and Kimmo, they lack size.
They are now on the road and this gives them a real good chance of bonding and collecting points. the team if finally healthy (except Sesito).
My only concern is a lot of dead cap space but that's a problem in the offseason.
