That could be part of it. I also think a lot of the pressure is self-imposed. In addition, Bryzgalov and Jeff Reese have a relationship that is a work in progress (which is not to say they can't work together or that one guy is right and the other is wrong -- just that it's been an adjustment from what both were used to before). - bmeltzer
Bill,
Can you tell me if Bryz was "rattled" or intimidated the first time the Flyers went to Winnipeg that saw him sit the game out. It seems like Bryz was really trying to make up for past silly comments that he made towards moving to that city from Phoenix. In my opinion, even though those were comments he shouldn't have allowed to get out, I don't think I would have paid the fans any attention at all. Maybe a guy like Chris Pronger himself should have gave advice on how to ignore the fans considering he's booed in almost every building in the league. |

Well Gents, it's game day!!!! Feels like an eternity since Saturday. This trip will be good for the team. Get Rinaldo back. Get away from us lunatic fans. Get the Bryz playing against some familiar teams again. I feel good today. I can't wait to see how physical this D can now be. Bryz is gonna take off. I feel it. Where's GGunky? Gives us another Bryz chant!!!! Like those lines too! - Deasr1

Last Wednesday, Holmgren says he's out indefinitely, and then dressed three days later. Indefinitely means more than three days later. - Vipers53
Indefinitely means unspecified, not "more than 3 days" |

the exact reason why I want to punch the WIP people in the face....namely Mike and Ike. Barkan just got done saying how its sounds like Kubina doesn't want to be here with his comments in TB after the trade. Do you do your job at all?????? he expressed sadness about leaving TB, the city he played for approx 10 years. He also said here that he would like to sign and stay if management wants that. god they piss me the hell off - nastyflyergirl
lol guess mike didn't read the headlines on his company's webpage yesterday?

I would think indefinitely would mean more than three days. If he were that close to playing I would think he'd be listed day-to-day as opposed to indefinitely. I saw that he was practicing, but with a non-contact jersey, and it was reported that there was no change to how he felt with the concussion symptions, which would tell me he couldn't be cleared to play. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad he's back playing, it just seemed odd. - Vipers53
He was out for a few weeks and te entire time he was labeled as indefinitely. That was going to remain his status until the day he returned. |

I think "indefinitely" is simply to take away any hard deadlines on returning from a concussion, to avoid giving false impressions and expectations. |

So how do the PP units shake out now with Kubina?
Timonen-Kubina-Giroux-Hartnell-Simmonds
That would be pretty interesting to add that big right handed shot to what has been a great PP unit already..
Or does he quarterback the 2nd PP unit? |

Morning all,
I've got an interesting Flyers related story from my weekend at a work conference in Quebec City.
Was there with other military people from accross Canada.. ran into one of my buddies who is a Detroit fan and knows I'm a Flyers fan. Saturday morning, he says, "I am gonna make your day.. come meet this guy who works at my unit".. I was like WTF? I go over, and meet a fella wearing a nametag which says Read. He says, this is Matt Read's dad.. I was blown away..small world. We got to talking about Matt and how great this year has been..told him congrats. We starting chatting about the team's play osf late, how Matt was being used in games etc.. He could tell that I am a die hard fan. I say to him, I am going to see them on the March 17th game in Boston. He tells me, some of Matt's family are going to that game and that he can ask Matt to sign me in to meet he and some of the players if I want. I was like YOU'D DO THAT FOR ME? He laughed and said it's no issue. Matt likes doing stuff like that. I told him that if it wasn't a bother that it would mean a lot to me and my GF..(more to me LOL). We exchanged info and he said he'll give me the deets to make it happen.
Also, after the Saturday debalce and the Kubina trade, we spoke again and discussed the issues the team was having etc. He said he had been emailing back and forth with Matt all eveing and morning discussing where he is positioned on the PP.. Such a small world. His father seemed to be a genuinely nice man who is soo proud of his son. I think it is so kind of him to offer to help a HUGE fan of the team his son plays for. Any of you who saw me at buzzgate a few years back know that I am still on cloud 9..because I think I may get to meet a few of the players.. I am crazy psyched!!! Pray it all works out.,
PS: happy with the two moves on D Homer made.. but it takes a back seat to this!!! - Hextall271

The only thing that scares me about Timonen and Kubina together is that Kimmo struggles to keep the puck in at the blue line (which is one thing that has always bothered me, see example from Saturday) and Kubina isnt exactly ... fast. |

I think Homer should try to be even more vague:
Reporter: "What is the update on the injury front?"
Homer: "Pronger is out indefinitely. Jvr is out till whenever."
Reporter: "How long is whenever?"
Homer: "Yes."
Reporter: "What?"
Homer: "Sure."
Reporter: "Paul, I'm confused."
Homer: "Perhaps you need to find Jesus. Good day." |

Kubina's not really a QB, he's more of the triggerman. |

Timonen struggles to keep the puck in at the blue line? It happens from time to time but I wouldn't characterize him as a guy who can't keep the puck in... he makes some great plays on the PP keeping the puck in actually... can't say I agree with that at all. |

I love how people think all of a sudden the guys is the cure to all of the flyers woes. I understand he is an upgrade over the two rooks.. but he isnt Sheldon Souray on the PP or Shea Weber on the PP. In fact, over his last 131 games he has 1 ppg and 4 pp assists.
As soon as he doesnt start producing people are gonna bug out. |
