Kubina's not really a QB, he's more of the triggerman. - Jsaquella
So put him out there with the top PP unit and let him fire away? |

I love how people think all of a sudden the guys is the cure to all of the flyers woes. I understand he is an upgrade over the two rooks.. but he isnt Sheldon Souray on the PP or Shea Weber on the PP. In fact, over his last 131 games he has 1 ppg and 4 pp assists - jak521
Who said he solves all of our problems? BTW, PP and scoring goals is not a weakness, so nothing I am talking about has anything to do with our weaknesses. |

Timonen struggles to keep the puck in at the blue line? It happens from time to time but I wouldn't characterize him as a guy who can't keep the puck in... he makes some great plays on the PP keeping the puck in actually... can't say I agree with that at all. - Flyers2821
I didnt say he cant keep every puck in, but my only peeve of his is that he tends to struggle with simpler passes that are at the blue line.. i cant even count how many interference penalties he has taken this year because of that directly. |

So how do the PP units shake out now with Kubina?
Timonen-Kubina-Giroux-Hartnell-Simmonds
That would be pretty interesting to add that big right handed shot to what has been a great PP unit already..
Or does he quarterback the 2nd PP unit? - Flyers2821
Finally having that offensive right handed shot should be interesting. Hopefully Laviolette has some intention of using it. Where he'll go, I have no idea. I assume he'd play next to Carle on the PP. I can't recall if I've ever seen him one time the puck but I once in Toronto saw him live receive the puck, wide up and flat out blast past Biron. |

Well, I can't say that is a worry for me... I feel Timonen does a good job keeping the puck in. All PP QB's have pucks get behind them... just a matter of recovering, which is where Timonen tends to struggle... when the puck gets behind him. However, in terms of him keeping pucks in on the PP, I don't see that as a weakness... I actually see it as a strong point for Kimmo |

I didnt say you said anything. People, not you in particular, keep saying they cant wait to get him on the point qb our pp. He has that much missed powerful right hand shot.. yadda yadda. My thing is, if he was the PP specimen a lot hope to have found in him... he would have more than 5 pp points over the past 131 games..
I said I like the fact that he is an upgrade.. and a big one at that.. but when it comes to the PP.. i hope people arent holding their breath... |

I'd say Timonen is very good at keeping the puck in consider the Flyers play an Umbrella type of PP, where Timonen is the only real man high at the blue line. Plus, the PP spends most of it's time playing catch between Giroux and Timonen. Fumbling at the blue line happen but my only issue is that they try and not make the PP so predictable. |

Its not just on the PP that this happens... and there are times where he makes amazing stops, but in general he seems to let pucks by him at key times imo. |

Well the top PP unit right now has been what... Timonen, Giroux, Voracek, Hartnell, Simmonds... and the 2nd has been revolving with guys going on and off of it...
Maybe replace Voracek with Kubina on that unit?
Timonen up top, G on the wall making plays happen, Hartnell in the slot, Simmonds in front of the net and Kubina blasting away from the other side?
Kinda what Jagr was doing on the PP on that side... firing away from the circle
One things for sure... he will get a TON of shots over there with the way Timonen and G move the puck on the PP |

Sounds exciting. Im actually looking forward to the tweets once Bryz either gives up a goal or they decide to start Bobrovsky. |

Well does it happen unpressed? I haven't noticed this to be an issue or a problem of worry at all. I don't find it to happen so often that it's predictable. |

Timonen-Voracek
Second Unit
JVR-Briere-Jagr
Carle-Kubina
Possible 3rd unit:

I think my only wonder is what side Kubina will play on the PP, if he plays on the PP at all. Right or Left. |

Yes, which is why I notice, and allow it to frustrate me so intensely. Outside of that I cant say I have ever said anything negative about him. Lets both watch for it over the next few games and then we can re-discuss it. A lot of times the only thing it does is kill the flow, but it has hurt us on the scoreboard occasionally (pens game). |
