DO not trade for Ales Hemsky, and yes, he overpaid for Quincey, I thought it was an error at first. Maybe they won't have to see Anders, oops, I mean Jonathan Ericsson cough up the puck anymore. Why oh why did they resign him last year.

Holland was worried about Hemsky's health before he got Kronwalled, I doubt the Wings will give up much for him.

Holy $h!t balls! Wow. First rounder though.... haven't seen that from Holland in a while. I'm guessing that's Stuart's replacement. Anybody know how many years (if any) Quincey has left?

Avs must be pissed about that! Big thanks to Stevie Y. I'm sure the asking price from the Avs would have been a lot higher

I blame the Hall Gill deal for the price hike

Not looking forward to playing against a former Av in a red uniform. Hope Wilson does not hurt Quincey open ice.

Price is a bit steep but he's not a rental, can log big minutes and the most important thing is get Hudler off the point of the PP where he is pretty useless. Not much out there to trade for when it comes to defense.

Piche was obviously just a contract dump and likely will never see the NHL. He was pretty far down the Wings depth chart on defense.

It's funny how the game of hockey works sometimes. Quincey gets put on waivers by Detroit who is a top notch organization of talent evaluation. Then years later spend a first round draft pick to re-acquire him.

He got a chance to play in all situations and get more ice time with L.A and Colorado...something he would not have gotten with the Wings. This helped to improve his overall game. Wings get a better player back than the one they waived a couple of years ago.

Apparently Colorado didn't want the Wings deal for Quincey so Holland called Yzerman with what he would give for Quincey and Yzerman got him for them at the price they were willing to give.

just cant seem to get the same breaks on the road as at home.

Both goals were pretty unfortunate bounces, but I liked the effort for the most part. Huge game comin' up against the Nucks, would love to get a win without Datsyuk for confidence purposes.

Avs would never deal with detroit plus downie is better fit for the Avs than a crazy low first

All of you saying Detroit overpaid are obviously not familiar with Detroit's farm system. We are overstocked with talent as is, we don't need the (LATE) 1st round pick. Besides, Detroit does better with late round picks anyways.
- chadster

I think the last time the Wings had a high first rounder they drafted some kid named Yzerman?

Every team gets something they want out of this deal...Wings get depth on defense with some insurance for next season, Avs get an energy winger that can chip in some offense and Tampa gets a pick they might use for a prospect or in a deal to bring in something they really need.

Yeah any time an Avs fan roots for the dead things (Even vs The Hoovers) it's definitely not the same.

Yeah the avs inability to draft well until about 2007 really made the rebuild take a while. A couple playoff series would bring that rivalry right back

That was over 20 years ago and they have only had like one 1st round pick in the top 20 of the 1st round in like 20 years. I think he was talking about the Wings having more luck with 2nd to 7th round picks than they do with late first rounders althought the last few years the Wings have traded their late 1st rounders for two 2nd round picks.

It is weird. The Avs are like my second or third favorite team in the West these days. It happened so slowly I don't think I even really noticed.
