I thought they'd win the division and contend for the cup. It wasn't unreasonable to think that considering how they finished the regular season, how they played Philly in the 1st round and how their off-season went.

They had a team that went on a hell of a run and added two nice pieces and one wildly overrated one to it. Well over 1/2 the team is having a career worst year. If you saw this coming, you should get a job for the league. We thought they would be in the conversation in the spring, and a number of good publications agreed.

I kind of think instead of actually seeing this all happen, you waited around for your opportunity to take cracks based on what you think, for some reason, MOST Sabres fans thought. As though you had ever heard from so much as .01% of them.

I'm a Sabres fan, and when my one friend asked me who I thought would come out of the East, I didn't say Buffalo. As a matter of fact, I thought Tampa would come out. They were so good in the playoffs last year. Who knew that they would be just as awful?

Just think, if Connolly doesn't get railroaded from behind we beat Philly.

There was reason for optimism but when things started going south and then the injuries piled up it snowballed into something Ruff couldn't handle. That and our goaltending didn't bail us out when we needed to steal a few.

I actually think losing Pominville was a bigger hit. The PK was awful as soon as he went down. The Connolly injury just added insult to injury.

I posted this in another blog, Sabres fans were NOT screaming we are winning the cup, it was all the trolls that came on the Sabres blog and posted all that crap. Most trolls didn't like the fact that we spent money and signed players however, before the new owner those same people came on this blog and ran there mouths about how bad the Sabres are and will be. If you don't like Sabres talk, get off of the Sabres blog.

I agree but just think, if we had anyone to play centre I think we hang on in Game 6. Nothing against Goose but when he is your number 1 centre your in trouble.

If I'm not mistaken, a lot of us were pretty skeptical that things would work out. Any real Buffalo fan has the more cautious side. It's from being burned so many times throughout the history of Buffalo sports in general.

I agree but just think, if we had anyone to play centre I think we hang on in Game 6. Nothing against Goose but when he is your number 1 centre your in trouble.
