I'm not saying to go to a trap system.. I am saying Lavi needs to tweak the system to make the forwards more responsible.
Lets take last night for example. The first 3 goals were quality goals. The Flyers really need to limit chances like those, because after those goals Bryz's confidence has to be shot... He has to be thinking am I getting pulled. What is the media going to say? etc... It make the routine stops even harder.
Do we need Bryz to make some saves on some quality chances.. Yes. But if we can limit the quality chances, then Bryz's confidence should rise, making the routine saves easier... - RooNosHockey
There wasn't much wrong with the flyers 5 on 5 play. I think they are making strides with the forwards playing responsibly. The Pk is killing this team. The rookies read and coots have been eaten alive. They are not winning the battles on the wall nor getting sticks in lanes

There's not too many ways to tweak an attack style system. One guy in hard. Second guy is reading that play and reacting accordingly. Third guy is high and is reading both of the above while watching the high forward on the opposing team. Third guy (high slot) does NOT go on the offensive until puck possession is 100% secured. D men don't pinch on anything less than 75% chances.
I'm in disagreement about Bryz. I think the more quality chances a goalie stops the higher his confidence becomes. Now I'm not advocating the Flyers stand around and do nothing like they did against the Rangers on the 11th, giving up easy goals, but quality chances are going to happen. I'm far more concerned about the back breaking, mostly routine, soft goals we've seen go in the past while.
fixed - though if we needed a guy for 1 game, I'd see Lilja play since he's on the roster. longer term, MAB. - wilsonecho91
Agreed. And that's why I ranked them the way I did.
Interesting that most guys had MAB and Gustafsson ranked as high as they did.
Is the general consensus around here that both these guys are close? If Kubina and Grossman don't re-sign here are we okay having MAB and Gusty in the 5-6 slots to start next season?
