Kind of funny looking back at this blog from nearly six years ago. Obviously, I didn't know much about Bryzgalov's colorful quotes (in any language) back then.

much the same way as "you can never pour too much water on a nuclear reactor" can be interpreted two different ways.

according to Bob McK:
CAR and Tuomo Ruutu agree to terms on a four-year extension with an AAV of $4.75M.
I like him a lot, but that's too much $ for him.

i think it's tough or even foolish to rush to judge some of these deals as steals or overpayments as the cap seems like it'll continue to rise |

James van Riemsdyk
Keep these factors in mind.
This season was not a set back for JvR. He got hurt in his 3rd season in the NHL and it's still possible for him to hit 20 goals. If he continues to play like he did last night, he will reach that mark.
His contract will be a steal as he gets further and further into it. The greats that JvR is striving to be like today will get older and sooner or later retire, leaving JvR room to be one of those great. It's just the circle of life.
Most importantly JvR is along term solution at wing for Giroux.
You can't find any better reasons to trade him, then the reasons I've given to keep him (Not meaning to toot my own horn). |

last nights game points that people should shut up on...
JVR, Briere
JVR looked good if he plays like this... this team will be ever harder to beat in the playoffs...
Briere didnt score but was clutch stealing the puck and making a helluva pass... get off his arse.... playoff time is clutch

I disagree. It's Bryz or nothing. He is struggling, but part of it is the system the FLyers play. Part of it is not having those crease clearing D-men until now. And part of it is mental... Hopefully if Lavi address number 1, and number 2 being addressed already... Number 3 will address itself... - RooNosHockey
I want to agree but I don't (although I think it is a grey issue and it falls somewhere in between). You let in shots from the point with no screen or deflection and your team will not win in the POs. No system will eliminate those shots. Sorry. |

If the Leafs were smart, they'd make a pitch for Nabokov for either one of their young goalie and/or a high draft pick. Some have already edged the Rangers or Bruins names in the Cup already. The right moves could put any team over the top right now and personally, I'd like to see an underdog come out of the east. Hopefully not the Pens when they get Crosby back. |
