For that cap hit and how much it would gut our depth, he would have to score 70 to make up for it. - MBFlyerfan
We have loads of assets, we even have a few kids that would stick, but can't because of the depth we have, honestly, a 50 goal scorer on our top line with Giroux & Hartnell?
I love Bob, but he will never start here, (not for a long while), and we have younger goalies in the pipeline.
His cap hit is high, agreed, (Briere makes a million less), and we're talking a consistent stud who produces without a center, oh, I'm getting gooey again thinking about it. |

They would be. My concerns with Nash are his cap hit and what assets it would cost to get him. He'd be an absolute monster next to G - Jsaquella
I agree, but JVR will be a monster next to G as well. |

Not a lot of guys that fit the bill, cap wise. They'll have to trade a body, being at 50 deals. Homer's not afraid to make a deal, though. We'll see what happens, obviously, but I agree, if this is what we start playoffs with, I'm good to go. - Jsaquella
It must baffle some that I said "assuming the goalies get their act together". AMAZING that I could acknowledge they need to play better without being Captain Meany Pants! |

My only concern is Coutrier hitting the wall and becoming an ineffective penalty killer. Read has really struggled short-handed lately, and we might run out of bodies there. Adding a guy like Moen or Gaustad could really help down the stretch and into the playoffs. - LordStanley88
That would be a primary reason that I'd be looking to add a guy like that. Couturier's going to have a good career, but he's slipped a bit in his overall play. It wouldn't hurt him to watch a few games from the pressbox here and there |

Well, there's no other way to say it. The goaltending has to improve. That is understood, or should be at this point. |

I think he'd get 50 next to G, but I don't see how we can make it work financially. JVR has the potential to be a Nash type of player. Let's just let him develop.
Furthermore, we need the money to acquire a defenseman in the off-season. |

If you do it's in a package, you would never get full worth, (like what was mentioned earlier about Bernier) |

He does have the potential, but if anyone has the assets to make that work, we do, and we would still have plenty of pieces |

I would rather have the depth than load up on top heavy líneup. If jvr was the only young forward it would take, then I would be giddy about getting Nash but his cap hit is crushing. I keep the multiple players it would require to acquire The logic being those players produce equal or better cumulatively than Nash's production, cap hits are around the same and your line up has more balance. Just my opinion |

We have the assets, but lack the cap flexibility IMO. We need that money to sign defenseman in the summer.
Would you rather have JVR + Suter or Nash? It's an easy answer. |

I don't think there is a person, a fan, here or anywhere who doesn't agree that the goaltending needs to improve. Yet somehow when I get on someone who is just being mean spirited or unreasonable, somehow they believe I am saying the goalies are fine. And state as much.
Ill never get it.

For a year or 2, yes, & then everybody wants to get paid, trading Bob and 2 forwards, (at most), still gives you balance, top heavy is having one good line

Yeah, that's a great question, (I would take Weber over Nash, but JVR & Suter)??
Everyone is saying that Suter can command up to $6.5 or maybe $7 million a season, (because he's a UFA), but no one would whine about Suter's cap hit if he were that high, but Nash's is considered worse by being a little higher.

We complain about our goalies and defense. But it could be worse, we could be the Kings and have forgotten how to score.

Most of us believe that you build from the net out. And if that kind of scratch is going to a player, wing is the last position I would spend it at. |
