I'd like to see what Mason can do on a different team.. The kid use to be absolutely lights out! Carter + Mason in a deal then send prospect + pick to Dallas for Ott. The leafs are one of the softest teams in the league this year. Good luck even winning one game if we face Boston or Philly first round. - grim1911
If we get mason, or any potential #1 via trade, we should deal some of our young goalies for something...no need in having 9 goalies spread over three levels... |

Yeah, I find wins a lot more entertaining than losses, no matter what "system" a team plays. |

yup.. but without stable goaltending its very hard to play D properly.. the d-men are playing apprehensively... its like they are afraid to make a mistake.. thats not good.
when you believe your goalie can and will bail you out.. you tend to play more aggressively... this is not the case with the leafs right now.. just like the fall of 2010.. no faith in their goaltending.
burke needs a goalie pronto.. the two the leafs have arent grabbing the reigns - Dozzer
I was just talking about this with my flames fan buddy last night...Imagine how different the Leafs and Flames would be if we had Kipper and they had Gus... |

There were 9 scouts at the game last night.......... you can effectively write off those teams as any potential suitors for Gus....... even for a blind German Sheppard |

carter and mason for schenn kadri reimer and a 1st? - zang100
too much. Considering any team who takes Mason is doing CLB a favor.
No way a 1st is involved in that deal. |

Sign me up. I'd do it in a heart beat. I wouldn't mind losing Kadri if we could replace him with Carter.. Gardiner and Frason have made Schenn expendable.. and Mason could easily replace Reimer/Gus |

With the price for Nash being as high as it is, the market is very limited. Burke wont pay the price and I doubt LA will either. Make your best offer for Carter (1st, one of the young goalies and a d-man not named Jake or Luke). Expand the deal if you can and get some help for the 3rd or 4th lines. Maybe Dorsett. The leafs get the center they want plus it leaves the kings still looking for some help. Send Grabo and whatever to them for Bernier. |

Leafs problems apart from not having a stable veteran GK, are basically described as follows:
- Phaneuf
- Lombardi
- Connolly
- Steckel
- Komisarek
- Armstrong
- Schenn
All of these with high caphits, low upsides.
Ridding these will enable the Leafs to solve the current issues, while maintaining a stable core of players that form the framework of a more successful team for the following years (Lupul-Kessel-Grabovski-Kulemin-MacArthur-Bozak-Brown-Gardiner-Franson-Liles-Gunarsson-Aulie). All young players with reasonable caphits - Grabovski will be resigned because he has earned it to stay in Toronto. Trading him will be a very negative message to the rest of the team: trading a guy that puts in his best effort and getting done what he is paid for, while keeping other guys (Komisarek-Steckel-Lombardi-Connolly etc.) that are just not helping out the Leafs team. |

Seriously???
Schenn = 3rd pairing defensemen
Reimer = backup goalie
Kadri = Severe attitude problem
1st = Who the frank knows
Think again

There was a lot of rumours floating around yesterday about Det having the offer on the table for Grabovski (Dreger said a team had an offer in last week that consisted of a 2nd and a top prospect) I would make sense having him go there since he has such close ties with Zetterberg and Datsyuk (they train together in the off season) |

(in no particular order)
fire wilson
hire carlyle
trade for halak/bernier/nabokov/shooter-tutor
sign grabbo for 4.5 or less (or gtfo)
trade for carter and/or stewart
start on the whiskey early today |

so long as the leafs play this puck pressure system they wont get much better than they are
unless they load up with all stars somehow |

I really dont know if Mason will be any better....what we need is a goalie we know we can depend/rely on...not another "possible" or "project". |

Grabovski has some value in a trade.
The other guys are tough to get rid of.
They just have to ba patient. Yes, there are a lot of crappy overpaid players now, but you are basically stuck with them until some people on the farm are ready to step in.
... in the meantime, you need a decent goalie, not a superstar, just average, and a new coach.
