Jack Daniels, with 1/2 coke 1/2 cranberry juice.
No name, I invented it (used to tend Bar).
Big fan of Mai Thai's since going to Hawaii couple months ago. Can look it up. Gotta love any drink with Rum listed twice - Big_Lightnin
I'm not ripping on you, but I did chuckle at the thought of needing to be a bar tender to mix cranberry juice, coke and jack. lol |

It's more of the "occassion" scotch. Good friend over, Leafs get a win....
I've got 4 scotches on hand at the moment.
Glenmorangie 10 yr old (for mixing only...)
Glenlivit 12 yr old (xmas gift - this is for "visitors"...)
Dalwinnie 15yr old (my staple )
Johnnie Walker Blue (for good times)
no Lagavulin at the moment - need to get a bottle.

I can see putting ice in cheap scotch cause sometimes it needs it. Anything under 15 years pretty much, but if you're paying $100 or more for a bottle, while the hell would you want to water it down?? - Big_Lightnin

Its not so much that ice 'waters down' good scotch - it just freezes your taste buds, and kills the taste. In fact, most Scotch experts actually advocate adding about a tablespoon of water to a dram of any good malt, whatever the age - it releases the vapours, and that swirling effect you get when the water mixes with the natural oils in the whiskey which the Scots call 'the serpent'. |

na that was to justify the "I invented it" as opposed to saying "one day I ran out of coke and cut my JD with Oceanspray"

The only goalies that would make an ounce of difference on this team would be game stealers such as....
rinne
quick
thomas
miller
kipper
etc
We're not getting any of them, so we need to play a better defensive game, top to bottom.
Now I wonder who we could subtract to make that possible....
hmmmm

chilling the glass has the same effect without cutting the scotch itself. By small amount they literally mean a few drops.
1 icecube is about an ounce of water (depending on size of cube). Most people keep their scotch a room temperature or just slightly below, which melts the ice cube rather quickly.

Burke's style for sure, but I think Howson is holding things up on purpose, and with Nash or Carter available probably unlikely he speds any assets he has on something lower scale. We have an abundance of lower scale, and finally have a chance at some elite level talent (Nash, Carter isn't elite, but he's better then good). |

Schenn + Kadri + Gus + Prospects/Picks for Miller.
Id be MUCH MORE happy with that than any of the proposed trades so far |

also, adding 1 tablespoon of water to a "dram" of scotch would give you about 3/4 of an ounce of slightly scotch tasting water |

My honest take on the carter contract is he left about 1mill on the table to remain in Philadelphia long term. He obviously had no intention on winding up in Columbus, and i think he really wants out. Hince the sub par play.
Taking a look at the player he's huge, though not overly physical, and has scored 40, even the coveted kessel hasn't done that yet! Also there is no rule the says we need Kessel and carter on the same line, he may click better with a play making winger (kadri). Basically If he can be got we need to give it a go, Big 40 goal scoring centers will hardly ever be so available.
TO Bluejackets: Lombardi, Schenn, the monster, grabo(if willing to extend)+2nd round draft pick.
TO Toronto: Carter - ky678468
I appreciate a good response, so thank you. Most people around here just bash other posters with little to no knowledge.
I do think Carter's cap hit is quite manageable, so we agree there....its the term that scares me. If you get into a situation where he gets a bad injury in the next few years, but not bad enough for him to retire, you end up with this MASSIVE question mark every summer/fall waiting to see if your #1 guy will play. Dipietro is the perfect example there.
As for not playing on the same line as Kessel, i agree it is possible, but since we need a big-body center to play against the likes of Malkin, Crosby, Getzlaf, etc...Carter would have to be the 1st line center. Most likely it means we have to consider Kessel/Lupul on second line...which means less minutes and less shots.
Not an impossible scenario by any means BUT can you do that at the deadline or are you better off making a drastic change like this in the off-season? My feeling is that if we want playoffs, you wait till the offseason.
Finally, Carter would come MUCH cheaper than what you have there....Columbus wants to dump him bad it seems so Schenn, Mcarthur + 1st would be enough. |

Nice collection. Right now Ive got:
Glenmorangie 10 yr. (not a huge Speyside fan, but I do like this one)
Laphroaig 12 yr.
Talisker 12 yr. (yum)
Bowmore 12 yr. (my staple)
Balvenie Double Wood (a gift, haven't opened it yet)
Lagavulin 16 yr. (got this for my birthday last week)
I'm, for the most part, an Islay guy, but I do like trying lots of different malts. Any others you would suggest?

So you make Carter a first line center to make Kessel and Lupul second line wingers........... let me think
still thinking
