looks like buffalo picked two players that made it in the nhl and only one that played more than 50 games with them.... solid - SabresFaninIndiana
But Buffalo had 4 of those all stars on there roster at one point... Briere, Dumont, Parrish and Zubrus... |

Looking at past drafts can be depressing . specially when you look at all the star players picked after the sabres picked a no-show - cabin
specifically looking at the stretch of 1st rounders we picked between 2000 and 2007 |

Datsyuk and Vinny get in IMO.
Not that I think Vinny deserves it but he'll hit 500 goals and thats the benchmark. - dadeadhead
WHAT!!! no love for Gomez?!?!?!?!?! |

Not true - he was a rookie in 98-99 and an All-Star by 2003. - SabreSufferer
He played 25 games in 97/98
He wasn't a dominte (complete) player until he went to Boston.
Being an All-Star just means he scored some points. |

Doesn't Vinny still feel like he failed to reach his potential?
His career kind of reminds me of Turgeon. No one felt he was a Hall of Famer, but his career stats say otherwise. |

Most teams sell at the deadline to save money and grab a return for a UFA. Dracy has the huge Luxury of an owner willing to spend what he has to to win in the short term, meaning does not have to just dump salary now. He should be using that to his advantage to shop some of his core as well as the UFA (Guastad, Boyes) to teams with short comings looking to make a serious run at the cup.
LA is unhappy with Ithaca native Dustin Brown, who by the way averages close to 300 hits a year....(not that this bunch of cream puffs could use a player like that) plus 25 goals and 30 assist. Trade Roy OR Stafford and Sekera or even Leopold if you had to for Brown and Matt Greene a tough stay a home D man that averages 235 hits a year.
Chicago believes that they are only a starting goalie away from a second cup in three years. If Miller for Kane can be done do it and ride your self of a starting goalie with a 6.2 mil cap hit. The time is now .

He was a First Team All Star in 2004. That is the best of the best at each position. Not sure what more you wanted from the guy.
I would argue that Zdeno Chara, over the period of 2000-2010, was the second best defenseman in the league after Lidstrom.
Look, I am not happy about it either. |

He has 372 goals and on pace to get 9 more this year.
He has scored at least 20 goals in every year but his rookie year.
He'll be 32 to start next year, my guess is plays at least 5 more years, and hit the 500 goal mark.
498 gets you in (see Glenn Anderson) |

It is also a lot harder to score nowadays than it was in Anderson's time. That should count for something. |

All Star selections don't = HOFer IMO. It just means you're a good player.
Scott Stevens and Chris Pronger disagree with the second bold part
I'll put it this way Chara has been an "Elite" D-man for 6/7yrs. IMO you need to do that for 12-15yrs to be a HOFer. |

I am also differentiating between All-Star selections (going to the game) and being selected a first or second team All-Star. Chara was a first or second team guy 5 times. |

Chara is a d-bag. I will never forget him going after Gerbe in the playoffs in '08 at checking him into the bench at the end of the second period... Gerbe wasn't even trying to get down to take a last second shot.

Injuries are the only exception.
See Cam Neely, Bobby Orr, and soon to be Pavel Bure, Eric Lindros, and Peter Forsberg. |

Agreed....
Chara will get is ugly ass in the HOF though.. IMO.... He may not deserve it.... but the balloters will think so... |
