The guys to trade are easy..
1. Goose
2. Roy
3. Leopold
If Im Darcy..I got to Detroit, Chicago, St Louis and Vancouver and tell them...Roy is in play...
I truly think he is enough to change the balance in the west. - Ripped Fuel
Rip,
Agree these 3 players can change the make up of this team and bring back some nice pieces moving forward!
Change the culture of this team in the next 5 days! |

I can see them keeping him and letting him walk UFA. |

I think the bigger part of it is, are teams really willing to give anything(pick or prospect) for a 3 goal scorer
I'd venture to guess no

i'd hazard to guess that they could a 3rd-rounder for him...take that in a heartbeat |

sure...this is the time of year when gm's do questionable things like:
a 2nd-rounder for an out of shape raffi torres |

All over the NHL, fans are begging their teams to make moves and acquire players for the playoffs. Look at how we have blasted Regier those times he slept through the trade deadline and left the Sabres understaffed for the playoffs.
This kind of pressure (as well as the pressure from owners) pushes GMs to overpay for players.
No question in my mind - the Sabres will cash in by moving any of the players we commonly mention. |

There has to be a team willing to make that deal. If we don't want roy .what are the chances another team would |

obv. i'm def. not happy with the way things have gone this year but if we move goose, leo and boyes i'll be somewhat pleased.... |

However, Regier is not going to do anything. And this is why I was so in favor of firing him a month ago - he has no incentive to build for the future, because he knows he probably won't be around that long.
His best play (for him), is to acquire a player or two and make a late-season run for the 8th spot. If he even comes close, he can go to Pegula and make the case that injuries were to blame and that the "core" merely needs to be tweaked. Pegula will probably then give him another year.
There is no way that Regier is rebuilding. If Regier is good at anything, it is self-preservation. |

Very strong! Solid 2nd line centers are hard to find (especially this time if year).
Darcy is sitting with 2 nice pieces -Roy & Gaustad, what will he do?
Leopold should gives us at least a 2nd (maybe a first), bring up McNabb. |

Agree Irish - Darcy is sitting on hard-to-find assets at center and defense, which most teams need. If he cannot move these guys for a high price, it is because he doesn't want to tear down this team and rebuild.
I don't blame him for that - I blame the owner. |

Why ?
Why when you could at least get a 4th for him.
I highly doubt Darcy just allows Boyes to walk for nothing

Ott has two more years at $2.95 million per season left on his contract, with a “no-trade” clause.
Per Spector, Ott might be on the block. - SABRES 89
I like Ott's grit but this team already has a 2nd line Center that is not producing. Ott is also getting paid more than he's worth IMO.
He's a 3rd liner and 3rd liners should not be making almost $3M. |

If Quincey brought back a 1st and a prospect Leo will fetch a 1st as well. |

I agree...a team heading to the playoffs could use Roy....what if they got a 2nd or 3rd line center with an expiring contract...Roy slips in for next year....what if they need speed?? what if the power play needs some work??
I can see a LOT of easy sale signs to hang on #9's neck... |

I'm of the opinion that shoot out wins do not tell you who is the better team. It's an exhibition and counting SO wins as wins is garbage. Here are the standings:
1. Rags - 81 pts
2. Bruins - 72 pts
3. Panthers - 65 pts
4. Devils - 74 pts
5. Flyers - 73 pts
6. Pens - 73 pts
7. Sens - 70 pts
8. Leafs - 65 pts
9. Jets - 65 pts
10. Caps - 63 pts
11. TBL - 60 pts
12. Sabres - 59 pts
13. Isles - 58 pts
14. Habs - 58 pts
15. Canes - 57 pts
Take the shoot out wins away and count them as ties. The new rankings are:
1. Rags - 78
2. Bruins - 65
3. Panthers - 62
4. Flyers - 72
5. Pens - 66
6. Sens - 65 pts
7. Devils - 64 pts
8. Caps - 62 pts
9. Leafs - 62 pts
10. Jets - 61 pts
11. TBL - 58 pts
12. Canes - 57 pts
13. Habs - 55 pts
14. Isles 54 pts
15. Sabres - 54 pts
Isles 2-1-1 record gives them the tie breaker over us. Caps get the tie break over the Leafs with 2 more regulation wins. Devils drop from 4th to 7th, which better reflects their true talent.
The point is... we aren't very good. There is a chance that we can still make the playoffs, but everyone knows that if we do, we aren't winning the cup. I can't believe that we aren't blatantly selling. Supply is low, so costs are high. It seems obvious that Darcy should be cashing in. Sell, sell, sell... |

Between Leino, Boyes, and Stafford they have 17 goals for an average of 740k/goal. That in a nutshell is the Sabres season. |
