The cause of the trades will be debated for years. With this city's TMZ and drama driven media, innuendo becomes fact and minor things get turned into major issues and normal behavior for single, wealthy 25 year old guys gets turned into Motley Crue on a lost weekend.
There's likely no one reason why the players who were traded were traded. I'm sure there were valid hockey reasons, cap reasons and off ice reasons that led to the moves. I'm also certain that Holmgren got input from all levels of the organization prior to making the moves.
As for what has occurred following the trades, one could argue that Carter was screwed by the Flyers and had a right to be upset. One could also argue that Carter should have been a lot more professional in hsi approach following the trade. Guess what? There's a lot of truth to both points of view.
That's why I'm not mad at Richards or Carter, and will root for them to have success in LA, short of beating the Flyers. - Jsaquella
AWD will definitely help in heavier snow, but my experience up here in VanCity is that the tires make the difference. Both our vehicles are FWD. Michelin X-Ice on the Mazda 3 and Bridgestone Blizzaks on my Sante Fe. 5 inches of snow is np and the ice gripping is great. - rockychocbill
That's what I've read/heard... that it's 80% all in the tires. Maybe I'll think harder about just going cheaper/2wd and get a good set of snow tires for the winters. I put so many damn miles on my car commuting though I fear I'd wear out snow tires not really driving around on the snow (in mild winters for example).
what are you talking about? he was the captain of his junior team, was the captain of the world junior team. He did fit the role well. he played in any situation and led by example. made the hits, dropped the gloves, scored the goals... - Flyers4Life88
I agree with all of that, like I said, he did a lot of great things. I just don't think he handled being captain very well. He didn't have to deal with the media in juniors like he did in Philly. I also didn't care for the constant head shaking. Or the fact he always wore his hats slightly askew. That last point is pretty subjective though.

That's pretty much been the story around here the past 2 winters. Only 2 days of snow last winter and 1 day so far this winter. It's like Slammed81 said earlier, the weather patterns are certainly changing. I look at it like insurance. The winter you don't have them is when it will snow buckets. I don't put a lot of miles on mine though.

find it funny that you point out his hat being askew but neglected the complete difference in his play/demeanor/effort the last couple years here.

we as fans demand a lot out of captains because from in the early years we had a good one. we want a captain that is true and will put out the effort on a nightly basis. one that will put himself out there from time to time (Clarke/Poulin/Primeau). they bought into the system, like it or not and showed the effort. when richie was on his game, he's top notch but off the ice he didn't want to be bothered. the whole hat thing was petty on all sides but it started with richards...the media just turned it into a forest fire. In philly that's a no-no...
now, life goes on, he's not on the team, does not wear orange and black...i don't root for him or against him. he's just another player....

Look to the future. We have to try and win with what we have now.

yep, each year the Flyers good or bad do their best to put the best team out there...
i for one is truly enjoying the youth movement. nice to see some young blood on the roster. And that's no Racki
Kings GM Dean Lombardi is reportedly telling his fellow general managers that Dustin Brown will not be traded. This contradicts a previous report from TSN's Bob MacKenzie, who stated that the Kings are willing to entertain offers for Brown. Brown would certainly be a useful addition to any team making a push for the Stanley Cup, so if it turns out that he is available, we think the Kings will get some pretty solid offers.
