The Weber & Nash package offers will be similar, ending in
"what else you got"??? - puckhead17
Honestly, you can keep Nash for the money. Not only that but they've brought in a lot of guys (no one stellar but still) and he can never seem to find that chemistry.
If we're operating in a vacuum, I'll take Weber ANY day over Nash, especially for similar giveup |

Despite Brieres "herculean annual playoff productions, you still couldn't move him. |

Briere becomes tradebait in 12-13, when he's paid 2mm with a cap hit of 6.5mm, go to a PHX or FLA, teams who want to appear closer to the cap than they are really spending. Really smart of Homer to structure the cap hits like that. But he's not waicing his clause to go to PHX or FLA...sooooo...... Looks like we're "stuck" with him. And I'm fine with that. |

Oh I agree, I take Weber #1 choice over anyone, but I would work around Nash's cap hit maybe over what ridiculous amount Suter will cash in at, as he'll get more for being a UFA |

I'm fine with that too, unless his playoff production dries up, then it's a different story. |

Also, for all the guys Columbus brought in (Carter to play with him??) They needed a "pure playmaker" and they didn't do that.
Not only that, but the more I thought about it, if you offered Bob, JVR, and a pick & they still had their hand out??? No, that would be it. |

Difference there being JVR is locked up long term to Voracek's RFA, but at this point? They're of similar value in my mind. JVR has a good agent, they cashed in on his playoff run, and now he's getting 4.25mm through 2018. Voracek should have a High2's Low3's Cap hit for 3 years. I might rather have him than JVR for the $$. |

Your post makes alot of sense. I agree that Briere isnt going to waive his clause to go to Phoenix or Fla. I think Briere is going to be here until his contract runs out. So the best case scenario is he continues to produce for the Flyers until the end. |

If the new CBA allows the Flyers to rid themselves of one contract. Keeping a close eye on Bryz, I am using it on Briere. If Briere doesn't do anything in the playoffs and won't waive his NMC, I Redden his ass and have the kids play his minutes. But thats some chunk of change in Briere and Pronger the Flyers would choke on. |

I didn't mention anything on Voracek in my post, but, reading your further, I think Voracek will get more than high 2 low 3 $$$, they use Erat in Nashville as a similar comparison, 50 points (what he will probably get), is similar to Erat's production, & also look at the $$$ Scott Upshall received |

No I would shield myself from the "stone throwing" and jettison the goalie, I really don't like that contract at all, Briere only has 3 years left, I can live with that. |

You're probably right, but I'm looking at Leino here, I wouldn't give Voracek any more than 3.25/ If he balks, he walks, beat it. |

Bryz will still have 8 years and 41M left on that deal, plus a NMC. That is a contract to consider. The Flyers have a tough decision to make if this clause becomes available in the next CBA. |

When agents use similar players as comparables, it comes down to not only what that player is worth now, (Voracek?) but what he will be worth in 2-4 years? (JVR), and that's how he got locked up so early, they figured if his playoff turned him into a 30-30-60 point guy, than $4.25 a year is good for both |

If there is an amnesty clause, I don't see him here anymore, if they could/would have signed him to a 3-4 years $4-5 million per, then he probably stays. |

Why not toss the pronger contract if we are stuck with it and he cant come back (I feel so bad for him still. Thoes interviews with his wife are awful). |

Because, in all practicality, if that is the circumstance it doesn't count against the cap. |
