I saw a few of those as well last night. Do you think he may be having trouble judging the black puck against the new black glove? Any goalies on this board ever use a black glove before? - Duran76
Maybe he needs an eye doctor...not being cynical, but the way he has trouble sometimes, I dunno... |

Once the "you care too much" thing hit WIP, it blew up into local papers all over. Next thing you know, I'm hearing clients bring it up in conversation. So I agree, the garbage they spew has further reaching effects than the one they have on listeners. Aggravating. |

Do you mentor hockey teams?
Ill tell you right now that by putting a "C" a guys chest it doesnt change the dynamic. Timonen will still be a leader. Hartnell- a leader.. G- yup. These guys know who the leaders are.. and just by naming one "head leader" it wont change anything.
I also doubt any of them sit around and think about the "C" |

i think perception is pretty amazing. everyone is talking about how carter's value was hurt because he's been such a bad solider in columbus, etc., but he's still scored 12 goals in his last 25 games while captain canada richards has 1 and a few assists in that same span and no one is saying anything about fatty and his complete lack care/work ethic. - OrangeBlack27

He was a healthy scratch the last 10 games, Flyers were coming off a win in Winnipeg, (Laviolette generally keeps the same lineup in tact after a win barring injury) all of a sudden Shelley's Father is at the game, and Shelley plays for the first time in almost a month? Seems like more than coincidence to me. It's not the biggest deal in the world, but I mention it for the reason that I hope the coach isn't throwing players bones during a critical time in the season. - PLindbergh31
It was nice of Laviolette to insert Jody Shelley into the line up last night so his father could watch him get beat up! |

Jack Johnson is thrilled to be a Columbus Blue Jacket after his trade from Los Angeles on Thursday. The Blue Jackets received Johnson and a first round pick and gave up Jeff Carter in return. The first round pick is conditional in 2012 as it will be a 2013 pick if the Kings do not make the playoffs. If they do, then the Blue Jackets have the choice of taking the pick this season or next and have to decide just two selections before the Kings are due to make their pick. "This is going to be great," Johnson said. "I’m a Midwestern boy at heart, and I see this as a great opportunity. I can’t wait to get there and meet the guys."

Prior to this year I would of said Yes. I think Hartnell is too valuable to the team this season but that could change over the course of his contract. I like Brown alot and that would be a tough decision. |

This is a career year for Hartnell. I'm not sure he can match this again next year. I think Brown would be a step in the right direction to make this team a little tougher hitting, and more defensive sound at the forward position. |

That's a tough one. Not with the way Hartnell is playing this year. But that said, I'd much rather have Brown in the long run. I'd just try to give up something else first. |

That's unfortunate. He's been playing fantastic. If he had a Bryz contract he would have a chef. |

I dont disagree. I just think it would be hard for the Flyers to trade him with the production he has produced this year. It may actually look like a trade that points in the wrong direction. I like Brown so I would have to seriously look at the age, contracts, the need and fit before deciding. Its a pretty fair trade either way. |

the best part is the "you care too much" comment was from a fan who said it was said to him at the carnival or so the story goes.
who knows if it was really said? |

Whew.. thats a tough one. Hartnell is one of the longest tenured guys on the team, and has really become a Flyer. The fans love him, and he loves the fans and the city. But at the end of the day it is still a business.
Brown brings a bundle of in your face energy. Hits literally everything and is a decent offensive force as well ( reaching 50+ points in each of the last 4 years). He is also signed to an extremely friendly cap hit (3.175). He would be an instant fan favorite. He is very disciplined as well, and generates tons of PP's.
Having said all of that.. Hartnell is having a career year, constantly pots 20+ goals, and has been the only link on the teams most productive line over the past 5 seasons. He will battle in just about any area on the ice, and adds great character to the team... the guys love him, the fans love him, the org also seems to love him.
Thats a toughie Bill...
EDIT: I think with the way Simmonds has developed.. it potentially makes Harts expendable. Also figure that you save some cap space it makes you think.. |

I would need more than just Brown for Hartnell. Hartnell almost playing at a PPG pace through 60 games and on his way to a 2nd 30 goal campaign -- in addition to the physical play he brings. |

Brown has the same in consistencies as Hartnell. While Hartnell probably should have broken out as a consistent 30 goal scorer along time ago, so should have brown. At least Hartnell is well on his way to being a 2 time 30 goal scorer and I have no doubt he'll be able to do it again next season because he's playing within a larger role this season. Carter and Richards getting traded is the best thing to happen not only to Giroux but Scott Hartnell as well. |
