The point is you're trading 40 goals, at best, for 60 goals. You're also trading defensive awareness for size. Nash doesn't really hit many people, he's just strong on the puck. You're also trading away versatility for a one-dimensional player, albeit a very talented one.
You only win a trade in which you get the best player by paying what that player is worth. If the Hawks traded Toews, keith and Sharp for Crosby, would they have won that deal? - andru2797
You are calling Sharp defensively aware? Of what, that he should occasionally pick up his check? Do you honestly think Nash would have been on Team Canada playing for Babcock if he didn't/couldn't play defence?
Sharp wouldn't even get an invite to a Team Canada tryout camp.

Who has defensive awareness? Not Sharp. Sharp is the very definition of one dimensional. - Ogilthorpe2
Oooops, the bear was awoken.
C'mon ogi, what did sharp do to make you dislike him so much?
Plays regular shift, PP, AND the PK. Is a + player and you just can't appreciate him. What gives?
Looks to me like the Jackets are starting to do the right thing and clear their cap mess. Having a 30 year old winger starting on a 6 mil per for 5 years doesn't make sense to me. I think it would be the Jackets who would be out on this one and looki g for a young star in the making as the centerpiece. Or two. Not sure Stalberg is in that category.

Sharp is 10 times the hockey player Nash will EVER BE.

If by chance the Hawks make a big deal Stalberg almost has to be included.
The worse thing that happened to Jackets besides poor drafting was to make the playoffs before their time.

Yea I can stand with you on the move but Nash is at times very very bad in his own zone. Sometimes hes good but much of the time he does not use his size like you'd think and waves his stick at people. <---Wait so he may fit right in on our blue line.

Then you're not watching him. Over the last 3 seasons, I believe only Toews has more takeaways then Sharp. He also doesn't give away the puck much.
In addition, Sharp's point per game average the last 4 seasons is 0.86. Nash? 0.88. - andru2797
Quite possibly the most overrated Hawk...ever. Without Kane and Toews setting him up with tap in goals night after night he's an average player. He finishes, that's it. He's Rob Brown. Never creates any chances for himself, always living off his linemates work/creativity. He might be marginally better defensively than Kane...might be. Nice sniper, good guy to have around, but far from a complete player.
May as well be talking about Gretzky coming out of retirement and suiting up for the Hawks as well as Nash, because both have no likelihood of happening.
Bringing in a guy getting paid MORE than Toews who IS NOT BETTER than him in almost every way is a really horrid idea.
