Clitsome is on waivers...... |

Cmon man Hawks put everything on the line 2 years ago to win at all costs.Lets keep it civil.
I am suprised more teams are not using that strategy sign up to the max and LTIR at TDL for more cap space. - VANTEL
Both teams have (against the rules) skirtted the cap. Nucks using fake LTIR, Hawks sending guys to the AHL/Europe. The Campbell trade was clearly against the rules as the Hawks never had any intention of having Olesz in Chicago. To "play by the rules" they spoke otherwise consistently prior to the start of the season but Rusty never has a chance of getting back to Chicago. Its what smart teams with generous owners do. |

Thank you. It is smart cap management by both teams .If a team can use loopholes why not. |

Who knows, maybe this is the only way Bowman cat get something done, by putting in a waiver wire claim?

This is not even the same thing, we are talking about starting the playoffs with a distinct advantage over other teams. Purposely using the LTIR and having a 64 mill payroll when the Cap is 59 is surcumventing the Cap. Putting a player on Waivers is a way for a player to be claimed by other teams before they are relegated to the AHL. If none of the other 29 teams wish to claim him then what does that tell you. |

Hawk you were cracking me up with some of your posts yesterday...GREAT STUFF.
I'll wager Stan Bum lures Nick Boynton out of retirement and calls it a day on Monday.

Lots of rumours .I hope so . We are hoping he is auditioning for his new team tomorrow. - VANTEL
Ott would be a good pick up for Vancouver and for the Hawks as well. Of course our GM doesn't seem to be able to pull the trigger on a deal and thinks his #1 pick in the upcoming draft is just to valuable to even consider trading.

Van's got a much better shot at winning the Cup than Bowman does of making a deal. |

Why is he on waivers? Is he a garbage player or would he be of some use on the Hawks? |

It tells me that the Hawks got Olesz back in the Campbell trade with the sole intent of burying his salary in the A. Thats what you call cap circumvention and it is specifically not allowed. This isn't a grey area like a long term contract. Its plain and simple.
Huet is one thing, but Olesz is a whole other situation. |

I think Gillis would do whats necessary this year and next seeing he thinks we are really close. I understand SB not wantting to sell the future if he feels that the Hawks are more than 1 or two pieces for the cup.He can't come out and say "Fans we are close but not this year" no fan base wants to hear it. It might be a bit of a strech for the Hawks this year. Right now I see the Hawks as between the 6 th to 8 th best team in the league. Maybe SB see it as the same. |

Yeah. Your thinking is wrong on this. The Hawks could have waived Olesz within three weeks of getting him and none of his contract would have counted against the cap. They didn't. They thought he could play. When they found out he was hurt/bad, that's when they sent him down. |

Wrong, the Hawks aquired Osesz with the intent of buying him out. His age allowed the Hawks to buy him out at one third of his contract instead of the standard two thirds. Problem is Olesz wasn't able to clear the medical following his surgery, and you can't buy out any player that has not been cleared to play. So he was brought into training camp and the Hawks found out what the Panthers already knew, that he was crap. So the Hawks put him on waivers, and "surprisingly" no one claimed him. |
