Wasn't looking to be right so much. Just pissed that any Hawks fan, (including myself) would even listen to a Nucks fan let alone agree with them! |

Hawks management has always known their plans, retool through the system. The fact that they were having a good season points wise was a bonus. It kept the fan base believing they were a cup contender. Recent developement have opened Hawks fans eyes and they don't like the reality. Hawks fans need to step away from the edge, and know that the organization is trying to build long term stability. We have a very young core, signed long term, the future is very bright. - hawksbuzz
Nothing against you but I dont GAF about guys who 'might' help in a couple of years. If they back into the playoffs again, that's a huge sign that what they are doing is not working. If this team is competing at the level at which they claim to be is working but it's not. Not fixing glaring holes that were obvious last summer is unacceptable. |

I disagree somewhat, this team was 1st in the WC a month ago and for much of the first few months. I think SB will overpay, just for a guy he and hockey ops are sold on. They're not going overpay for a guy that they or more importantly Q doesn't think will fit in/help the team. Seeding doesn't mean much in the NHL, once the playoffs get here the team's who get hot will advance.
However I am concerned if they don't make a move with the recent injuries. All signs point to Monty being done for the year possibly and Hammer had a setback. Last but not least we can't forget about that Toews fella. - dan9189
They were in first with a 100% healthy team, playing their core maximum minutes, and playing a ridiculously easy schedule. They won the games they should have while burning out their core. Now injuries are occurring. It's not rocket science. When you take an 8th seed team and deduct Campbell, Kopecky, and Brouwer while not adding any players of value back...... you are not a better team. Stan should have been spending that cash he's been sitting on before he burned out his core. |

That is what the market is at for an over the hill former top 4 defender. It is disgusting. Not a smart deal IMO but NJ is all kinds of screwed up anyways (ownership/salary structure/ect).
Nash is a more complete player than Sharp. Nash is on the better side of 30. Also, he looked awesome playing with Toews in the Olympics. Probably wont happen either way. Great my dad can beat up your dad discussion... but Sharp has been floating worse than Kane (who has improved dramatically in his own zone) and similar to Ovi pretty much the whole year. Watch the games please. He was in the discussion about a Selke a few years ago because he was leading or close to leading the league in shortys.
Clendering played last night and was on TV. Super skinny though looked like one of the better players for sure.
And I am under the impression Toews has a fracture in his hand or separated his shoulder (IMO). Explains the drop in his faceoff performance while still being allowed to operate a motor vehicle. I was under the impression they don't typically recommend people with a diagnosed concussion driving cars... - fattybeef
Careful with those 'sources say' things, Fatty.
FWIW, I also heard the shoulder was really the problem, not so much (or at all) the head. |

So you don't like the reality. I can see how it is hard to accept. Once your team wins the Cup it is hard to accept anything less. I for one am excited about this teams future, but don't go by me, I am just a Hawks fan that actually lived through the agony of 49 years between Cups. |

If you need to find material against a Nucks fan, go to TSN. In every Hawks article there are die hard Hawks fans defending our beloved Hawks against some of the more ignorant Nucks fans you have ever heard. Nothing against Vantel he is OK, but he is one of few Nucks fans that have some class. Opps did I say that? I hope he doesn't read this. |

I still have my program from game 2 of the 1973 Stanley Cup finals. I've been a life long fan. I don't expect the Hawks to win the cup every year. What I do expect is that management and players produce at a high competitive level. The Hawks are not doing that. They are actually moving backwards. |

The reality is SB screwed up. He went for prospects that are STILL not ready to produce at the NHL level.... even by next season. (pirri, saad, morin, danault, mcneil, etc). What he should have done after the cup was go after more players on entry level contracts like wheeler, simmonds, foligno, to name a few. Now the concern is that by the time these prospects (which JJ has pointed out are NHL quality but not top NHL quality prospects) the core you are counting on may not be there. Careful... when owners are playing for the future they tend to 'always' be playing for the future. You have a great core NOW.... You should be playing for NOW. JMO. |

I disagree, Leddy, Stalberg, Kruger, Hayes, Olson, and Shaw. A pretty good start to a retool. Lots of other prospects and picks to add to the assets at Bowmans disposal. The difference between myself and most other Hawks fans is that I don't believe this is the time to use our assets on an expiring contract that may fill only one hole, on a team with many. |

Your perception of the team is different than mine. That's ok. If the Hawks start to play a lot better and make it past the first round this year, I'll be pleasantly surprised. But from what I saw at the game Thursday night and the trend line that they are on, I don't have high hopes. |
