I guess Nikolai Kulemin should expect 4.5 million next year based on the Hemsky contract.

Learn how to negotiate.. if you're going to overpay do it on a young up and commer.. i'm sure between Eberle, Hall and Nuget-hopkins + whatever top 3 pick they get this year they're going to need to set a presendence for the future.

if Eberle, Hall and nugent hopkins all hit 80+ points and RFA's what do you think is going to be fair for them when Horcoff is making 6 million penner got 4.5 million and hemsky 5 million?

are you going to pay everyone 7-8 million +? with no money left for goaltender and D?

They still plan to re-sign Ryan Smith right? LOL another 6 million?

I know it's only a 2 year deal but what a bad precedence to send to the rest of your players/organization.

The leafs have signed bad deals too in Komi and Connolly but at least they served a need at the time and they were competing with other teams for UFA's 4.5 and 4.75 doesn't sound too bad compared to those deal however.

Hey Ek, if the Kings are surprisingly interested in Nash even after acquring Carter, I have a proposal:

I propose a 3 way deal between LA, Toronto & Columbus. You guys fill in the blanks as to what u think OTHER players wiould be involved. I will start the process with the main priniciples in capital letters. LA: NASH, Schenn. Gustavsson
Toronto: KOPITAR , Bernier
Columbus: LEAFS 1ST PICK, KADRIi, Reimer. Tyler Tiffoli,
Kulemin, Hickey, Holzer , Grabovski.

Reasoning? LA gets the BIG star winger, they get Schenn to replace Johnson & a a backup in Gus which they will need.

Toronto FINALLY gets thhe #1 center they are missing, plus a guy who has a chance to be a #1 goalie in Bernier.

Columbus wanted a balanced kings ransom for Nash, well they got it. They get a 11st pick, future top 6 forwards in Kadri & Tifffoli, 2 regular players of the NHL roster in Kulemin & Grabovski & 2 decent young D-men that have a chance to be regular NHLer's very soon in Hickey & Holzer.

Let me know what u guys think, feel free to subsitute players if need be.

yeah, I don't think anyone thought they'd do anything if they even made the playoffs anyway. Lets think about it. Leafs make the playoffs play rangers and are out in the first rnd. The worse they do, the better pick they get.

Palmieri was given numerous opportunities and didnt do anything with them. The two picks, who knows... I liked Foster in his brief stint with the Devils, but Zidlicky is an upgrade.

So, basically LA and Columbus are forced to give up their star players, but Toronto does nothing but throw failed prospects; a backup goalie that can't stop anything; a player who has gone from a 30-goal effort to 6 and a pending UFA in Grabovski? Try again and next time add something of note - not crap.

Kadri - a top six forward ... He can't even stick with a team that might not make the playoffs now.
