if they traded for Nash, they would have almost 33MM wrapped up in 5 players and I think he has to pay at least one prime rfa... - isaiah520
If they can add Nash without giving up Del Zotto, Mcdonagh, or Stepan I think they will do it. Obviously Richards, Gaborik, Girardi, and Callahan aren't going anywhere. If I'm Howson I have to have one of the first three guys I mention. A package headlined by Dubinsky is a waste of time for Columbus. And since a first round pick is at the end of the first round that isn't worth much either. |

The thing is, I don't see it as a modest upgrade. Suter gets underrated because he plays with Weber. He's the # 1 d-man on probably 2/3 of the teams in the NHL including the Flyers. - PLindbergh31
if he's not top 10 in the league, he's damn close IMO
i feel like i'm one of carle's biggest supporters, i think he's the most underrated player on the team. suter is more than a modest upgrade though in my book |

I noticed Staal isn't listed there, would you have him on the table if you were Sather? |

Yup. I think he is a fringe top 10 guy. Still pretty damn good if you have on of the best 10 d-men on your team. |

Not sure how to evaluate Staal. He's coming off that severe concussion, he hasn't played that well since coming back, if I was Howson I would consider Staal somewhat of a risk. |

people said that about redden kasperitus gomez drury and some how they've managed - 2Real
that's when they were dumping guys and going nowhere. they've decided to change course and have a minimum of hi salaried guys so that they always have a stable of young replacements by keeping and developing their own draft picks. going after Nash breaks that cycle and at 7.8 per, it's quite a cap burden. not to mention any chemistry issues... |

Buffalo doesn't need a goaltender. Columbus might be in the market for Bobrovsky, but I don't see a match with them.

No way of adding a goalie without trading Bobrovsky. Bryzgalov has to step up. That's the most feasible answer. |

God, I hope someone else gets involved and drives the price up for Nash. NYR is the last place we need him to go at a discounted price. |

that's a plan of failure for this yr. our goaltending this yr is worse than last yrs and there has to be a contingency plan. that does not imply that bryz can't bounce back nxt yr, but for this yr it's likely a pipe dream and homer owes the fans better than that.
I understand that to make such a move, homer would have to receive value for bob, but w/ carle looming as a ufa and the way this team is closing the GM has to try and balance doing better for this yr while not missing out on opps going forward. |

Not sure about the dollars but Suter is a much better dman than Carle at both ends of the rink. I think that is a nobrainer for anyone who watches both players. Would spend the money of Suter and let Carle sign for less or leave. - flyerdude17
no way i settle for carle when we could have suter that's just ludicrous |

I don't see howson discounting to move Nash now. there's no good reason and any team acquiring him will feel the sting to some degree. |

He has been a huge disappointment, but we are only talking about 40 starts. Have to give Bryzgalov some time to adjust to a new city, conference, teammates etc. That transition period is over now, but you have to consider it for the first half of the season.
If you break down his 40 starts he's had about 10 terrible games that have really skewed his overall numbers. I would say just going on memory alone he's had 10 brutal starts, 15 average starts, and about 15 starts in which he has been solid.
No reason to give up on him now, I'm giving him the rest of this year, and next year before I consider him a "bust". |

bet he needs this yr to figure it out when viewed in hindsight. |
