I think he does alot of things well but I dont know what the asking price is going to be. Im not willing to trade any more picks to acquire a player who will play limited minutes at that cap price ($2.3M UFA).
- stveshdy

All I'm saying is his acquisition will bolster our forward depth a lot:

If Nash gets traded before the deadline, it will be to Philadelphia.

I agree, the goaltending definitely needs to be picked up for a move like that (trading for Gaustad) to have any justifiability. If Bryz doesn't pick it up in the next week or two I would hand Bobrovsky the reigns. Bob usually plays about a game out of every 5-10 and he usually plays solid. If you were to give him some consecutive starts and let him get into a groove/rhythm he would be much better.
- FreshFlyer

Bob has had plenty of opportunities to take over the reigns. Hes fallen on his face each time. Whether we like it or not Bryz is the guy and we have ro ride him from here out.

I'd be willing to give up a 2012 2nd (the one from the Meszaros deal) and MAB or Gustaffsson. I'm not sure if that would get it done but you never know. I would also be able to part with 2013 1st rounder if it gets the deal done.
- FreshFlyer

They traded a second rounder for Meszaros, they didn't get one for him.

Flyers are at the 50 contract limit. Who would you move? And does Schenn have any experience playing wing?

Yes, Schenn has played wing before. The problem with Gaustad is that there's probably 4 or 5 teams interested and the cost is likely a 1st rounder

Okay thanks i couldnt remember. And if thats truly the cost for a 3rd/4th line centet, as much as i like what he brings, its too rich for my blood.

While that story might be BS, if it is true thats pretty cool. Its nice to know homer is that close to howson bizz wise that hes giving him the first shot. Homer can just relax and sit back and watch . If some fool IE: rangers gives up half they"re team he just laughs, or if nobody bites he watches howson come back to him at deadline with a way lower deal that he agrees too. Pretty much a win win situation for buzzcut............IF theres any truth to story of course.

That's why I like Isiah's suggestion of Adam Hall...he probably could be had for a Harry Z type and late pick. Good checking line guy, good on faceoffs, physical.

Still waiting for the Shelley put on waivers news

Also is Sestito on LTIR? Is there anyone else left we can put on LTIR for cap space or has the injured all been placed on it already ?

Don't expect you to concede anything. Agree that the coverage was poor. My guess is that if you asked Mezzy if he should share the blame he'd say yes. It appears the Flyers need to change their focus from trying to win games to "let's do everything possible to make Moonbeam look good". If the Flyers get to the point of not having any defensive breakdowns, then they can make do with $500,000 journeyman. Until then, I expect the highest paid goalie in hockey to start standing on his head.
- 2731color

I'm the last person the defend poor goaltending. But I'm also the last person to point a finger at someone else if I contributed to the problem.

Would I have expected Breeze to stop a shot like that? Absolutely. That's what he's paid to do. Are there going to be breakdowns in the D zone? Every team experiences them every game. Would I like my highest paid player on the team to step up and earn his paycheck at those times? Without a doubt.

But that's not the point.

For one player to attempt to deflect his share of the blame by exhibiting obvious displeasure toward another player is inexcusable and unprofessional. In this case, Breeze is an easy target because of the way he's been playing all year.

I'd like to believe Mezzy was showing displeasure in his own less that stellar coverage.

Nobody's going to overpay for Nash. I wouldn't be surprised if he either ends up getting a decent return or waiting for summer. The uncertainty over the new CBA combined with that cap hit is hurting Howson right now.

If I was him, I'd be sticking to my guns, don;t trade Nash unless you get what you want. They can still move him at the draft, not like he's a FA

If that's the case, I wish they'd do it. It would round out the squad nicely.

I dont disagee with that part of it. I was thinking more of Gaustad playing on the 4th line which would limit his minutes. I dont think his worth the cap hit or picks to play in that role. I do understand it would bolster your forward depth but is it worth what you will have to pay?

Gaustad price is too high for my liking. I would agree with Adam Hall. Im not overpaying for 4th line type player with that high of a cap hit.

Now thats a reasonable price. Id do it in a heartbeat. Almost 61% on faceoffs?

I would think mason would be involved in any deal with us. Maybe he just needs a change of scenary too. I dont understand how he can go from vezina play to backup/bench play. I guess bryz is proving that it can happen right now..lol

Mason had a great rookie year...history is littered with guys who were dominant rookies that never repeated that success.

Bryzgalov has had bad seasons before and bounced back strongly. Mason has never bounced back. There's no way in Hell I'd take Mason in any deal
