You might consider he's being sarcastic. Or pulling your leg. If not, it's just worth ignoring, isn't it?

lol..... if you would be giving up Giroux then

the only way you get ott is for JVR and that it

- MOREtoCOME101

Ott for JVR, as a 1-for-1, is absurd. Come on now.

You know what? Mezzy played like poop last night, so his eye rolling is immaterial to me. He missed a wide open net as time expired, and rolled his eyes then, too.
- Jsaquella

His eye rolling is immaterial to me also. I was only giving my opinion on someone else's speculation on the reason.

name the players like ott?

there is no one lol

- MOREtoCOME101

Well first off, let's look at what you stated about Ott:

1. he is a leader
- MOREtoCOME101
He's worn an A for Dallas, solid guy, does good thing in the room. So does Jody Shelley

2. he is a top 5 face off % in the NHL every year
- MOREtoCOME101
Ott has NEVER finished a season in the top 5 in the NHL in faceoff percentage

3. he get 50 point a year
- MOREtoCOME101
He has NEVER recorded a 50 point season in the NHL

3. fights and sticks up for his team mates
- MOREtoCOME101
Yes, he fights. So does Wayne Simmonds

4. great on the pk
- MOREtoCOME101
Ott is 4th in PK time on a team that is middle of the road on the PK

5. great on the pp
- MOREtoCOME101
He's on Dallas' second unit and has decent PP numbers

6. makes every one mad
- MOREtoCOME101
So does Sean Avery

Ott's a nice player. He'd help a lot of teams. You still don't trade a guy with 35 goal potential, who is 22 years old, to rent Steve Ott.

Steve Ott is a more versatile Zac Rinaldo. Obviously there is a talent disparity, but Ott is a third/fourth line agitator with some scoring flourish.

You don't trade a 22-year-old power forward with 40-goal potential for that. It's just bad business.

There is some kind of myth amongst a lot of people who think the Flyers are a very poor defensive club. Sure there have been breakdowns, turnovers, and blown coverages at times, but not more than most other teams.

Flyers are 7th in the NHL in shots allowed, that indicates they are pretty good at limiting the oppositions chances. How can a team be in the top of the NHL in shots allowed, yet be 25th in the NHL in goals allowed? Simple answer, dogpoop goaltending.

Bryzgalov and Bobrovsky are 43 & 44 out of 46 goaltenders who qualify in save %. The only tenders beneath them are Mason from Columbus, and Roloson from TB.

I watch a good amount of hockey, usually a couple of games a night when I'm home, and I don't see anyone giving up the amount of soft goals the Flyers goaltenders yield. It has to stop, and so does the people defending it.

- PLindbergh31

I agree with you. My only thing is shots can be overrated as well. The number of quality scoring chances is what matters IMO. You can take 30 shots and have only 5 real good scoring chances vs a team that takes 20 shots and has 10 good scoring chances. Im not defending the goalies bc they havent done their job. At some point they need to step up bc you defense cant be perfect every single game.

thats all im saying .... if you don't want to pay that price your not getting him

it's a fact that what it would take there asking the washington for carlson

the price is a young stud

- MOREtoCOME101

I think Dallas needs to get out of "FantasyLand" or Ott will be there. The asking price is ridiculous.

No one is expecting Bryzgalov to be Lundqvist, but defending him when he's basically been the worst goaltender in the NHL is insanity.

Two way street. The elite goaltenders erase team breakdowns a fair amount of the time, not only have the Flyers goaltenders not approached this, they allow goals on the most routine shots. It's hard taking the ice every game knowing you will likely need 4+ goals to win. Puts a ton of pressure on players. The Flyers have the best scoring team in the NHL, with an average offensive team they are at the bottom of the Conference with this goaltending.

I wouldn't know. I don't waste my time worrying about what the beat writers are tweeting and writing. They have zero to do with anything that happens on the ice.

The goaltending hasnt been very good. Routine shots need to be stopped thats why they upgraded to Bryz and got rid of Leighton/Boucher combo. There is no defending those "soft goals". The Flyers need Bryz to step up if they want to have a chance this year. Do I think every goal he gives up is on him? Nope. I do agree it can be draining on a team when you continue to let in questionable goals. I dont see how the Flyers are going to be able to fix that at this point into the season. The team as a whole needs to be better and the goaltending needs to step up and make the saves it should.
