So this is boring no rumors out there sounds like we are done making moves gonna be a boring day tomorrow - griouxmvp2012
I seriously doubt that. Homer just being tight lipped as usual. Only time something gets leaked it when it obvious.. like GMs and advisors sitting in owners box..lol |

Look, I'm not going to defend Reese tooth and nail here, but I imagine things are more complicated than just "replace the coach". Bryz is more fundamentally flawed than that right now.
And who are the goalies that "wilted" under Reese? He hasn't been here long enough for a real trend analysis. Emery was great up until he had a fluke/crazy nerve thing or whatever. Then we're down to Leighton and Boucher? C'mon, those guys are what and who they've always been under everyone they've played for. Frankly, they both had potentially their best parts of their careers here (I guess for Boucher his best part was his rookie year). Then we have Bob, who is a still developing young kid, and Bryz. That's it, that's the record.
Whether it's true or not I don't know, but Tocchet was tweeting last night that he didn't feel Bryz prepared enough for this season over the offseason and is paying the price now. I don't know if Tocchet knows anything or is making up stuff, but there is the unconsidered possibility in your analysis that Bryz is somewhat, or bears the majority of the blame for his own play this year. Just a thought. - eayost
Emery wasn't great he was average much like Bryz has been now except Bryz has been a step lower whereas before he was much better.
If Bryz was unprepared for this season, I lay that blame at the coach's feet too. It's the coaching staff's job to make sure their players are ready. |

How, exactly, is Schneider more consistent? He's never been a full time starter and he's played behind a better team in Vancouver than Bryzgalov has in Philly. - Jsaquella
That was in relation to acquiring Schneider VS Lindback.

I watched the back half of that game. Nice play by Daley there. They just interviewed him. "Yeah, Loui likes those tap-ins. We try and get one to him every once in a while."

It's only a suggestion. I came across a few rumours speculating the Flyers might consider Nabokov or even Giguere for the playoffs, but I doubt Homer is looking for a rental goalie or looking at all. About the Canucks, TSN (Mckenzie I think) reported that Vancouver's GM wouldn't move Schneider unless a deal or offer came along that knocked his socks off.
Maybe JVR + Bobrovsky could make it happen.
Lindback is a good option also but his stats are down this season (.897 - 10 games played) vs last years (.915 - 22 games played). Rinne keeps up impressive numbers with the same team in front of him.
Vancouver are tied long term with Luongo and can't afford the two of them next year. Schneider is RFA and due for a raise next year and many scouts, analysts, even Vancouver fans think he's ready for the number 1 job.
With the never-ending goaltending problems in Philly, I personally would rather pay extra (JVR + BOB for example) for someone more consistent and with more upside to FIX the problem now and also for the future of the franchise. - Chris48
We have Bryz for 9 years. Get used to it. If we traded JVR for Schneider(which would be batpoop crazy btw) theres no way Schneider stays here long term. The guy doesn't want to spend his career a backup/ split starter. |

I would take lindback in a heartbeat. I dunno if he will be rinne staus , but he has potential. Preds would trade him too most likey, as i believe they are pretty deep in goalie department.
I cant believe im even having this discussion AGAIN after dropping 50 mill on a (supposed) #1 guy in the offseason. |

I guess well find out. Maybe a minor move or two I don't expect anything major .... I do think they may take one last stab at Nash closer to the deadline if he's not moved already |

I mis-read, but still not the best idea in the world to bring in a young goalie at a high cost when you already have as much money and time invested in Bryzgalov...and let's not even pretend that a buy or trade is an option on him. There's no way the Flyers are carrying that much dead space for 16 years.
Maybe if there's an amnesty buyout, it becomes slightly more realistic. Otherwise it's the same as discussing putting together a package to add the Sedins.

As soon he he saw Hartnell was in trouble he held up. Good stuff. Giordano's a very impressive player, to boot. |

Another gutsy comeback win for the Stars. They got destroyed in the season series against Vancouver last year, too. Next up is the Penguins -- hopefully they do the Flyers a favor while helping their own cause as well.

Are the Stars going to be sellers tomorrow? Given that they're right in the hunt, wouldn't dumping assets be counter-productive in terms of drawing fans and collecting playoff revenue? |

really? I could see a performance not quite up to snuff, but not the nadir of this yr. man, you'll go to any length for bryz. face it, this yr he sucks and he's responsible for his woeful performance. he's been in the league long enuf to avoid this veritable groundhog day of soft goals practically every game. I think this yr is a washout...maybe nxt yr. |

This all could of been avoided if they would of traded for J.Quick like I wanted them to do this summer. There was talk that LA would possible move him bc of Bernier. When the Flyers traded Richards to LA they should of included Bob in the deal and got back one of their goalies. We would of saved money and had a young talented goalie. I really wanted Quick but I doubt he would of been available. The Flyers did the next best thing, sign the best UFA goalie on the market (by trading for his rights). |

We would have to infer he would be the starter if the trade is made. Homer or anyone for that matter wouldn't trade JVR for a backup lol.
You can resign Schneider at the summer. Flyers have a lot of options, if JVR-BOB are traded. Thats 6M plus Pronger around 5M if he's on LTIR. Thats 11 M.
Flyers have alot of options if that happens:
- Keep them both on the roster (unlikely)
-Trade Bryzgalov (very unlikely)
-Buyout Bryzgalov contract (1.7M for 16 years) lol
With Schenn (he's not going to hit his bonus so no 3M cap hit), Read, Couturier, Simmonds, Voracek, Talbot all players under 2M, we have a lot of options here.

i missed most of the game, but i gotta say i continue to be impressed by jake. and this writeup seems to indicate he really helped fuel the comeback. aside from the size, skill and speed, he really seems like one of the hardest workers and one of the most overt "team guys"
i really hope they keep him around. id love to see him develop. - Crimsoninja
Wisdom from Crims. Preach it brother.
I really like Jake's game. Never stops working hard. This team needs more of that mindset. |

with the re-tooling homer did, I wanted a rotation of bob w/ another young guy like Bernier w/ the winner emerging right about this time of yr. I was also unhappy that homer just traded for bryz instead of playing a buyers mkt, but that ship sailed as well... |

Yup. Its water under the bridge at this point. If Bryz was to hit the open market you would think he would of been paid $5M. I just dont like the length of the deal nor the NMC. Homer gives NMC out like he trades his draft picks. It wouldnt be as bad if these NMC/NTC were modified (list of teams they would be willing to go to). Hopefully Ilya will be able to play his way out of this funk. I still think he is a good goaltender but you have to wonder what the hell has happened to his game. He hasnt been comfortable in net since he was acquired, IMO. |

Absolutely. They're only currently 3 points out of the 3rd/6th seed (depending on whether they can finish first in the Pacific) and two points up in retaining at least an 8-seed (with current tie-breaker advantages over main teams chasing them). It would send a horrible message from the new ownership both the team and the fans to be sellers now.
So the answer is no -- unless other teams seriously overpay between now and tomorrow. |

Talk about a quarterback on the PP, Erik Karlsson is an absolute monster. On pace for 80+ points at 21 years old. So much for d-men developing slowly.
If Matt Carle is going to make 5+ million as a UFA, this kid is going to break the bank. Light years better than Carle at 21. |

in almost every type of fundamental of the position, he looks out of sorts. even when he's stopping shots, he's just blocking and not controlling the puck. couldn't tell you what's going on, but it's alarmingly bad at times. |
