Hell no. He won't fight anybody. Instead he pasted a guy 80 feet away from the puck and then turtled when it was time to pay the piper. Meh. If the same scenario occured and it was Brad Marchand in Emelin's shoes I dare say the opinions would change. - Cape Breton Bruins

Emelin came at him face first...not like he blindsided him like Thorton did. Retribution happens why should there always have to be a fight. A late hit but face to face...as opposed to Thorton.

I enjoyed seeing Malone lose his mind. Hilight of the night. - Pie
You see, Emelin's hit was questionable. Therefore, according to Jack's Rules, he must be prepared to fight no matter what. If he doesn't, he is a disgusting joke of a hockey player, and should be ridiculed.

Oh (frank). You're comparing Brad Marchand and Emelin. Got it. They play the same way. - hscesq
C'mon. I didn't compare them at all. I said if a similar scenario played out with Marchand hitting guy 80 feet away from the puck and then turtling the voices would have a different tone.

You people love the word "turtling" For (frank) sake, why does he have to fight? He stood in there and didn't shy away, but why does he have to fight?
And Marchand has a reputation for being dirty, so you are correct, the tone would be different.

meh... not sure why this is even a story... happens pretty much every game that one guy wants to fight and another doesn't.
oh yeah... habs are poop and it;s the highlight of their week.

hitting is a part of the game. what malone should of done had he not been too scared to fight staubitz who was shadowing him and talking to him between whistles is: go out there and score a goal, or use his big frame to cleanly hurt habs including emelin. but he is a wussy.
also emelin had facial reconstruction done and has a pin in his face. hitting malone was his way of defending himself without having to potentially have his orbital bone broken again

Its as old as the game itself. If you're going to be hitting guys 80 feet away from the puck expect to get punched in the face.
The Rome hit on Horton was "face to face" but the guy isn't looking at the hit when the puck is nowhere in the vacinity. He could have seriously injured Malone and he had every right to be livid because of that.

lol
edit: Emelin is gaing a dirty reputation himself....Ulf Sammuelsson esque. Always willing to look for a hit on a vunerable guy but never willing to back it up.

Such horsepoop. So after the hit Brewer and Malone jump on Emelin and give him a couple of shots but thats not enough got to jump the guy from behind later in the game and start pounding the back of his head. The fact that Malone couldn't handle the puck coming to him and less than 2 secs later he gets smoked has nothing to do with it. Had Malone managed the puck and Emelin hit him it wouldn't be any different.

Emelin wasn't right going after Malone, when he didn't have puck,Malone has moral right to go after Emelin, that is exactly what is fight for.
