kassian was not balls out when he got his chance to play up here
IMO Tropp makes this an easy trade for darcy to make - homiedclown

I LOVE these moves by the sabres. goose is okay but has been missing for some time now and just started to come on, a 1st rounder for him gives us many options at the draft (2-1sts, 2-2nds, and a 3rd). I've wanted hodgson since i heard his name was out there and figured the sabres would not make a move for him. when they drafted kassian, i was excited, when he got arrested, i was worried we had an idiot on our hands. when he played in juniors and AHL i was excited again and when he came to the nhl i was still excited. then kassian started playing in the nhl, and granted he's still young and learning, but he seemed to shy away from all of the reasons that i was told i should be excited for him. hodgson fills a need and a not-to-bright "power forward" was how we got this center, excellent work.
even if hodgson is a bust and kassian actually half meets expectations, i'm thrilled with this move because it shows the sabres have balls and aren't afraid to do what they think will be the best move for them. kassian wasn't what they thought he was going to be and they corrected it and got a guy that could potentially be pretty great for us.
GREAT WORK DARCY!! (i normally get pissed at darcy but give the man his due today!) |

I've always liked the idea of having 3 no. 2 centers rather than having too many eggs in one basket w/a high paid #1.
Hodgson fits that bill.
Now take that #1 and talk to COL about Ryan O'Reilly. - Purple Eagle

And Foligno - nfph
Foligno and McNabb that is why it was easy for them to move Kassian Darcy said. If they have to they can adress the fighting or tuff issue on the off season. |

Get ready for me to sound like Rico...
Take Galchenyuk 1st
Roy, pysyk, 1st(nsh), Sekera -> Shea Weber
Adam, Leopold, 2nd -> Dustin Brown
I think that's enough for those 2
Somehow dump leino
Getting weber & brown entices Parise to come here
Parise-Hodgson-Stafford
Vanek-Ennis-Pominville
Armia-Galchenyuk-Brown
Gerbe-McCormick-Kaleta
Tropp
Foligno
Switch the lines up... Add Foligno & Tropp and subtract Armia & Galchenyuk if not ready yet... But I think u all get the point
Our defense would also be sick
Ehrhoff-S.Weber
Regehr-Myers
McNabb-M.weber
Brennan
Schiestel
Um, that would be sick
It does work $$$$-wise if the cap goes up a few mil
But it's prob crazy to think all that could happen

Would you trade our 2 first picks for say the first or second overal pick who ever has it. Or a combination of roy and a frist or seconds. Our would you rather try to trade them for a top player say like Nash. |

And Foligno - nfph
agreed
now you have depth at all 3 spots in rochester with foligno, adam and tropp
potential in the future up front at rw and centers
this improves us moving forward for the years a head and the only down side is staff has to produce now |

I think he should eat them for lunch. Sorry, had to be a smart azz. |

Staal has been on the second line all year this year. Remember, Crosby is out and Staal is only behind Malkin, and most of the time Malkin was playing wing with Crosby before Neal got there.
Jordan Staal also is one of their best PKer's and plays on the PP too.
Hodgson is getting roughly 13 minutes a night and has 33 points in 801 minutes, Staal has 31 points in 847 minutes played, an average of 20 minutes a night. Staal is second in icetime among forwards on the Penguins this year and has been around 20 minutes a night for the past 5 years.

I think leino, hodgson and staff could be a potent second line
but that leaves roy or ennis on the third line |

If the rumors about dealing with family issues are true, I'm not sure I'm too worried about Stafford just yet. |

Honestly? Darcy pulled one of his vintage deadline days...
Reminiscent of Gratton and a 3rd for Briere and a 2nd.
He got this team better for the future, without sacrificing much for now, and got draft picks.
Today Hodgson is flat out better than Kassian, and was in a position of need. Kassian is expendable now because Adam can play now, and Foligno is in the wings.
2 First rounders and 2 second rounders this year... That's ammunition to make a deal at the draft this summer if you want... If you could talk Nash into it, could he be a possibility? Maybe offer Vanek? Stafford? Plus the picks would be attractive! |

I could care less if Roy was centering the 4th line. I'd put Hodgson between Vanek and Pominville. I hate Roy on that line. I also think putting Hodgson with 42 and 36 would work because he might get some offense out of those two. |
