I am absolutely baffled no one offered a mid-round pick for Boyes. - mochoson
Unless he picks it up for the balance of the season and ends up with at least 12 goals for the season....his career in NA is finished unless Buffalo brings him back as a 4th line player center/winger and shootout and 2nd team PP specialist; Hecht the same way; 4th line winger/center PK specialist....not more tha $1 million each.....they owe big time for the nice contracts they have been paid the last 2 years....and no one will give these guys more than a $1 million each next year...buys us time to groom Catennaci, Foligno and Adam.
If they can keep their careers going elsewhere....good luck to them.
My 4th line next year Hecht on the LW, Adam at Center, Boyes on the RW.
With Ellis interchanging with these guys.

Just watched it on youtube, yeah, no punches really landed. AND, if a guy has his jersey ripped off, and a WIDE OPEN head shot..........he takes it, Kassian atopped, with no kill shot! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fC1ZLG0rfP0 - KMic43[/img]
Sorry, those punches to the helmet had to hurt like hell. And Kassian has a head like cement.

Darcy said he did get offers for Boyes - Homer
I guess it's not like they have another use for the $4 right now anyway, might as well spend it on moot play from an NHL caliber guy over shotty play from a prospect. And if Pegula wants to spend, by all means...
Its there, 12PM... timing might be a little off, just a generalization, I think i depicted today accurately!
With the way the market was this year, i had a feeling Goose was going to fish a 1st. A part of me believes the intangibles he brings is worth it. Not even joking here either.
I didnt even pay attention to when you mentioned Hodgson last night. But it only made sense that if we were getting rid of Gaustad we absolutely needed a C in return in another deal. I'm also glad they gave Kassian away. Cody is averaging only a minute more than Kassian and is 5th in rookie scoring. Hes a 2-way scorer. Something we needed. - theblueandgold
This guy will be close to home and very anxious to impress family and friends.
He has a chance to do something special.....hope he burns up the rest of the season with another 30 points.....love to see him challenge for Rookie of the year.
Who do you think the Sabres should bring up in the ofrward lines for the trip?
Or do they double shift Pominville and Vanek?
I am assuming that Boyes, Hecht and McCormick are still on the shelf.

Well, I wonder how likely it is that we resign Gaustad. If that's the plan and has been all along, he's probably going to get some compensation for having to go through the whole trading process. I hope we can keep him at a manageable salary.
definitely quite happy with the moves Darcy made today. took it all the way up to the end, but hey, i think it was worth the wait. you get a good young talented player in Hodgson, a 7th defenseman in Sulzer and a 1st round pick after letting go of Gaustad, Kassian, MAG and a 4th round pick.
Kassian might become the next Cam Neely or Todd Bertuzzi. he also might not become either one of those two players. did we get weaker? yes. did we get better? on paper, i think we did. now we have to see how things work out and see what happens with those 4 picks in the first two rounds this June. you either get 4 promising prospects or make some moves packaging up roster players or prospects and those picks to move up further in the draft or get your next top center or another top forward.
definitely a good move.
this might come as a sign of giving up to some people. sure, anything can happen in the playoffs. any team can get hot in the last 10 or so weeks of the season and roll into the playoffs hotter than hell. this Sabres team could still squeak into the playoffs. do i want them to? no. i personally feel as though they'd bow out in the 1st round anyway.
let's hope the moves made today prove me dead wrong. - EricNearBuffalo
not many big guys become Neely, Doan or Bertuzzi or Tkachuk or Andreychuk...maybe he becomes more like Curtis Glencross or Alex Burrows, Dustin Penner or even David Booth; for me Kassian projects out to be more like a Nick Antropov with a meaner streak...a 20goal and 20 assist man with about 80 hits and 80 minutes in penalties per year....a nice 7th forward, but might be a little to slow in speed and hockey sense;
Hodgson projects as a 2A center and with the right linemates maybe a 1B.
He has always got to the next level before...his set-back was the injury and playing behind some heavy duty talent in Vancouver. He has great hockey sense, a good shot and passing ability.....Drury all over again
Doubt that he got more than a 4th pick...that would be too embarassing;
I could see him prefering to get a prospect or to take on a contract that is not working out for another year. NY may have offered Wolski or Avery a couple of weeks ago.

I think Ennis is going to move to the wing to play with Hodgson and Stafford. That means you have to call up Adam to play 3rd line Center between Gerbe and Leino.
