Agreed. Also, Vancouver, being in the position they are (near the top of the standings, and favored as a contender), have more patience and time to develop players with "potential" than the Sabres. We need players with very immediate results. Hodgson brings those results, and kind of bridges the gap between the younger guys on the team and some of the prospects that are still 1-2 seasons away from making an impact on the NHL level. He is exactly the kind of player the Sabres needed to grab. - BuffaJoe

I remember a few instances when he was injured and out of the line up, That we couldn't wait for him to get back in the game . We was missed . And will be - cabin
We will miss him tons on the Pk and draws, and I'm sure most guy's in the locker room will miss the guy a boat load.. |

God knows I've been wrong before but I'm kind of glad that Kassian was the one to be moved. The other option would have probably been McNabb and I would have hated it if he got moved. I know Zach only played a handful of games but he always left me wondering when the light would go on. I never saw either the skill set or physicality that he was hyped up to have.
I think Kassian will turn out to be the 3rd line grinder that pots 15 goals and can kill some penalties. If Vancouver is happy with that then I think they'll be satisfied.
I'm personally ecstatic about Hodgson. Haven't been this excited to see a new Sabre play since I can't remember.

I can agree with this. I think Kassian might turn out to be a Mike Grier type guy in that he might max out around 20 goals a season. Turns into a good checker. but never raises above the 3rd line. |

Yea on the PK is gonna be were Gaustad will be missed the most. In past years our PK has always been top 10 but with Gaustad still on it this year we were like 22nd. Maybe it was time for a change.
I bet it will be Roy/Kaleta and Hodge/Pommer on the PK units now. |

Absolutely loved the guy on my team but lets face it.. He was going to get a raise and we can't afford to have a 3rd line guy making $3M that scores 7-10 goals going forward. That's a recipe for failure.
Darcy not only didn't let him walk but got a 1st rounder for him. Buffalo has the inside track on him coming back come July 1st. |

I think both teams won with this trade. The Sabres need some depth at Center and Cody is a great start. In this coming offseason they should look to move Roy and a 1st round pick for a real number one center and then draft another. They should go after Stall in PITT if needed.
VAN think they won on this deal because they added some size and grit so they won't get pushed around like they did against Boston. But what they really need is a good goaltender. It wasn't their size that lost them their cup... it was crappy goaltending. |

Didn't want to see Goose or Kassian go however, let's see what Darcy does come draft day with these picks. |

Probably a good shock. He deserves an opportunity to play top 6 and well, playing behind Sedin and Kesler wasn't exactly optimal for that.
