If they dont I would be very, very surprised. A center with size and skill. What everyone has been clamoring for, and what the Sabres need. . . |

I definitely could see them doing it:
just a couple ideas that I thought of (not rumors, just me throwing poop at a wall)
Roy and both firsts for Eric Staal. Carolina is in the middle of a rebuild, im sure theyd love the picks. Maybe even do Stafford to save cap space and maybe not have to surrender both 1sts.
Roy and a 1st for Dustin Brown and a pick. If they keep the lottery pick and take a Gaunce or Galyenchuk, Brown could be a welcome addition.
Im sure there are more realistic ideas, but just a couple I thought of - CaptPantalones
I've mentioned Staal big cap hit but I like him, Brown would be a nice fit also. It's nice to have this kind of "freedom" to maybe do something. |

There's no way I'd do that staal trade u proposed
I'd rather have Galchenyuk & do the trade u suggest for D.Brown than have just staal & his gigantic cap hit |

He highest he will go is 5
There's a chance he falls to 7 or 8 bc of his knee injury |

1st 5 picks from what i have seen will be
1) Yakupov
2) Murray/Dumba
3) Grigorenko
4) Dumba/Murray
5) Foresberg
I see us slotting in about 6. So i did not say we are going to get the number 1 pick. |

So I was looking at our lineup for next year (Post draft). I have an issue. I have too many centers.
Vanek - Hodgson - Pominville
Leino - Ennis - Stafford
Gerbe - Galchenyuk - Kaleta
Foligno - szcezchura- Tropp
Myers - Ehrhoff
Regehr - ????
Leopole - McNabb
We have Roy,Sekera an extra 1st and/or 2nd we can offer up for a really good d-man in return. Say Weber or Suter - ImThatGuy
Not sure about "Chewie" as the regular 4th Line Center.
Some will disagree but I am off the Kaleta bus. The novelty has worn off. |

He did it for Tampa for awhile. If not, slot "gulp" Matt Ellis there. Also i think Kaleta is a great 3rd liner if he can stay healthy. He is a fantastc penalty killer. Good in the D zone as well. |

Yakupov is #1 - jdfitz77
You all do realize it'll be 2-3 years before u can put REAL wxpectations on him, correct????? This isn't Crosby Jr., if he was, he'd go #1 without any doubt |

It's not so much his "stock falling" as it is other guys jumping up past him bc of another year of excellent play while he's been hurt
Teams will be sorry they passed on him a few years from now |

I know it's a limited sample size, but watching some of Hodgson's highlights on NHL.com, the kid can rip it. Perhaps putting him with Vanek is not the best idea. Seems to be a little too "shoot first" for that to work. |

Couturier
Skinner
Ryan Johansen
Nino Niederreiter
Cam Fowler.
All players off the top of my head, that did not go # 1 that are all playing for the big club adn did so right away.
It is no loner the NHL of the 1st rd pick wont play for 3 years. It is the league of young guys now. |

Watch us make the playoffs or finish 9th/10th and get a pick around 12!!! If we can trade Stafford or Leopold/Sekera by next season I will be a very happy man! Just a couple weeks ago I couldn't believe how poopty the sabres future was becoming. Now I'm like a giddy school girl! I love CoHo and have been a huge fan since his brampton days! I will miss Kassian but you can't pass on a potential elite number 1 center.... Thats what we have been waiting for since drury/briere left! |

U do realie that when u change your point after ppl counter your original it makes u look like your just being negative & don't really have much knowledge on the subject / player...
Were he not hurt, he'd be the #2 pick
Maybe that's not "Crosby" good, but I also never said he would be
I said he's at least a #2 with #1 potential
And I also have said he'll benefit from another year in juniors before he joins us
I certainly don't mind waiting for that type of talent to develop properly
That said, if he's fully recovered he is good enough to have a very good chance at making next years roster |
