you're making a bad argument here. He is a 5th overall because that's what he is. can't look at him in a vaccum - it can only be based on who else was available, and how they were ranked at the time. - Big_Lightnin
Argument i'm making is that he was rated 5th back in 2008 as a prospect from that class. I doubt he is even rated in the top 30 anymore of that class.
Therefore, the second coming of Cliff Fletcher was a total fail on par with JFJ
Afterall.......... he did sign RW |

So miller is a bust too? took Hiller half a season to come back to form and some would say he still isn't there. I want to see reimer after off-season with a team that plays defense in front of him. - ky678468
Hiller has Vertigo.......... Completely different problem |

That is fine Dozzer........ I agree. What I am saying though is this....... who still thinks he is a 5th overall prospect? - faceto27
sad that hes been given up on so far....as if hes been playing for a strong team with a strong system and support. No...he hasnt...but sure |

Schenn hasn't exactly panned out because he was drafted by the Leafs. Same with Kadri. Have the Leafs made a good 1st round pick since Wendel Clark? |

The "book" would have been out on Reimer long ago. If his glove hand were truly his biggest problem, it would have been exposed long before now.
He played effectively all last year, he plauyed effectively to begin this season, and after finally getting on track after injury late in January, he played effectively for a good stretch then, as well.
We're watching an entire team meltdown becuase of one man: Ron Wilson.
It's not Reimer's glove hand, it's the space between his ears. Ron Wilson has pulled an epic mind(frank) on this kid. - Leeman4Gilmour
Reimer wasn't terrible last night, he just didn't make any big saves to keep the team in the game. You would expect an NHL goalie to make at least a couple of saves that are huge. I don't think that's Wilson's fault, I think Reimer has to take the responsibility, handle the pressure and play better.
And I am not interested if he starts playing well again when we are 8 points out with 5 games to go. He needs to produce now or it's clear we need to go in a different direction. |

i'm gonna come right out and say it:
anyone saying they wouldnt of picked schenn in the 5th spot is fooling themselves
every team had the exact same list when it came to the top 5 that year - Dozzer
yep. exactly.
schenn was top 5 pick for a reason. if scouts new karlsson was this good, do you really think he would have been taken in the mid 1st? geeez.
schenn is a good prospect. give it time. |

i do. i dont think top ten picks MUST turn into top line players
everyone seems to think that a top end pick must equal a top end player.. thats absurd.
pick location only represents the odds a player has at becoming a full time NHLer.. so.. we got a full time NHL defenseman (who is still learning the game and playing outside of a system that would suit him) at number 5.
thats a win. |

trade Schenn, Reimer, Mac, Grabo, and Kulemin for a few picks.....THEN we will be a good team.
 - noename09
It's frustrating to read these boards some days, for sure.
"Wah wah wah, we traded away all our youth... wah wah wah.... Boyes for Nolan... I want Steen back, I want Rask back..."
Then the very next post:
"Schenn is the Anti-Christ!!!! INSERT 22-23 YEAR OLD HERE is a bust!!!! Trade everything we have for anything we can get!!!"
I love the idea of trading Schenn, Reimer, etc for picks. What's the point? So we can go back to the drafting board and do it all over again? Pick another guy who we will once again trade for picks if he struggles in his first 3-4 seasons?
Where does this insanity end? At some point, you have to put the work into cultivating your own talent. Every team that has successfully done that has had one thing we lack: patience. |

Ken i feel bad for u. U gotta come up with puns for the leafs next 19 losses. U might as well just look at the schedule now and come up with the titles to save time - RoyMunson
I'm more than happy to help, here are some placeholders for the next 10 games:
Blackhawks Down! (The Leafs).
Price Tag. Carey Blanks Leafs to Reduce Playoff Odds to 6%.
Charred Remains. Zdeno's Third Period Blast Hands Floundering Leafs their Sixth Straight Home Loss.
March of the Penguins. Leafs Trampled in Pittsburgh.
Tailspin. Philly Flies Past Leafs.
Capital Punishment. Washington Hands Leafs 11th Straight Loss.
Floundering in Florida. Leafs Flushed as Panthers Set Franchise Scoring Record.
Thunderstruck. Hapless Leafs Pounded Yet Again.
Shellacking of Ontario. Anderson Shuts out Anemic Leafs in his Return from Injury.

How many defenders of his ilk have done extremely well in the history of the NHL by the age of 22. Look em up, for all those who hate. |

Reimer was horrible last night. 5 goals on 23 shots including goals right after the Leafs scored to get back in the game at least twice. That's absolutely brutal.
He should have stopped the shot after the Schenn gaff, the rebound-5 hole goal by Santorelli was horrible, he surprised Gards by not smothering a puck Gards then had to shoot out of the crease blindly, which was shot right back into the net, and what the eff was he doing flopping on that routine shot that bounced up and in off the D-man's leg? If he was in position, it doesn't go in. If that's not terrible goaltending, I don't know what is. |

toronto fans are typically impatient.. ride it out and end up with a solid mid pairing d-man in 3 years (when stay at home guys hit their stride (mid twenties) |
