the media is really making me violent - nastyflyergirl
Same here.. After the Calgary game I went out and bought a litter of kittens just to maim. Three permantly soldier crawl thanks to broken pelvi (new plural of pelvis), one uses its tail like flagellum to squirm around.. and 2 more look like the feline form of Sloth from the Goonies.
Its gotten a bit out of hand.. as you can now see.
(note: I hope that Bryz has a shaky game soon so I can read more negative articles about the guys play, which will in turn elevate my anger, prompting me to "dispose" of said litter... (which is now costing me a fortune in cat food and medical bills)) |

Avoid it. Dont pay attention to it and just watch the games. Everything is going to be fine. Bryz is going to stop pucks, score goals, win face offs, and sharpen skates. |

Why? Who cares what they say? I understand they suck, but I don't see the point in giving two poops what they have to say. If people want them to report just the facts of the team and not the TMZ crap then they need to stop giving their companies money by buying their product. If you want these people out, hurt their bosses' wallets.
For example, I'm a Mets fan. I love the Mets. I'm a diehard fan that acknowledges the team has zero financial stability and after David Wright gets traded, probably to the Phils, they will have no star power. I also know that they have a really great trifecta of pitching prospects in Familia, Harvery, and Wheeler that will make them exciting again in a few years. With that said, I believe the average attendance at Citifield this year might be 10,000 or less a game. The fans are disgusted that the Wilpons, supposedly savy businessmen, lost all their money investing in Bernie Madoff's ponzi scheme unknowingly (yeah right). Now, they are being sued and have cut their payroll more than any team has in history in 1 offseason... 50 million dollars. Mets fans want to do everything they can to get these guys out and I bet you see the effect of no one showing up for the next few years, with these guys eventually selling. Flyers fans should take the same approach to the dweebs that write in that city. |

Barkann is just doing what every reporter that goes to sports radio has to do, to some degree, to survive. Of course Barkann has been more egregious than most, quickly jumping into the FULL CATALDI MODE immediately. That's why I hate sports talk radio.
The problem has extended to the MSM and even bloggers. Part of a reporters job, IMO, is to educate, as well as report on the game. That's why a guy like Bill is held in such high regard. He doesn't have an agenda, he calls it like he sees it and most importantly, he loves the game, knows the game and strives to help others understand it as well. - Jsaquella
I realize the WIP people can't know all about all sports. I get that. but how about educating yourself a little bit and not be all about the drama. the beat writers have NO excuse. they are paid to cover a specific sport so how about you learn a little about it.

It's really tough to watch this team right now... Ever since the WC, they have been mediocre at best. I'm not even looking forward to getting back to being a dominate team... I would be happy if they played consistantly. I don't know what is going on, but the last 2 months have been dreadful... |

All that game last night did was reaffirm the fact that the flyers don't stand a chance in a series against the rangers or bruins. The flyers do not want to play that way. In particular the group of forwards. I was ok with the process of the game. I think the flyers desPise it |

The problem is, if you want to follow the team, on some level you will have to be exposed to the media that covers them. If you want to discuss the team on a public message board, you have to deal with people who take what is written by a Carchidi or Seravalli as Gospel truth.
Whether we like it or not, people can easily be turned into sheep by the power of media. Look at Fox News or even an idiot like Keith Olbermann. It's simple to tap into a group of people's base thought process and give them a simple rallying cry and scapegoat and get them to buy into your bullpoop. All you have to do is figure out the weak point.
In Philly, that's easier than finding a cheesesteak place. Give them a scapegoat or two, and ride those scapegoats until their legs fall off.

I also loved how the reporters pushed and pushed Bryz on why the first goal went in until he finally said it hit the dman. he didn't want to say anything and really didn't know what to say. I'd like to see him just (frank) with the media the rest of the way ala Pronger |
