you're right, that is exactly what they want but silly me......i'd want to be talked about in a positive way. I'd want people to be saying "wow did you read that great article.....wow, what a good hockey mind". like with Bill. I find it sad that Tim thinks its funny that people can't stand him. you dumb ass, they dislike you cause you are a hack - nastyflyergirl
Actually, what the media wants is people buying the paper and giving them web hits. I don't give them that, and the fact that people do makes me angry. The fact that some of the people giving them the hits and buying the papers take what they say as gospel truth makes me realize that people are just idiots. |

Yep. Water under the bridge now. The Flyers really needed faceoff help, they got absolutely dismantled at the dot last night. Was a big factor in the outcome of the game. Losing offensive zone faceoffs constantly is getting old. - PLindbergh31
like clockwork on the PP. offensive zone FO, lose the draw, fired down the ice. its so frustrating

All this female doggin about the media is rather moronic.
Stop reading and listening to them! - ggunky
Amen Gunky.
It's the medias fault that the team can't get out of their own way.
I'm going to assign the culpability of the Flyers shortcomings
Soft Goals = Carchidi
Faceoffs = Panaccio
PK = Seravalli
Shootouts = Barkann
defensive zone coverage = Cataldi |

He really needs to quit trying to bull through three guys from the other team at the blueline. Jagr knows hockey enough to know that if there are three guys converging on you...someone is open. Dish the biscuit baby! - Lexington Flyer
I'm sure that the grind is weighing on him a bit, too. Travel is more extreme in KHL, but the number of games and back to backs in NHL isn't easy on old legs |

The one negative in making an earlier trade is the probable cost. Had they made a move in December, it's very probable that a guy like Grossman or Kubina would have cost a 1st rounder.
So had they done that, Holmgren would get ripped for overpaying...and they're still having breakdowns despite the new additions. Trades can help weak spots, but the guys that remain still have to pick up their games. - Jsaquella
I was talking with respect to timonen's health and minutes in saying they should have made moves sooner. The trades will also help solidify the defense, but I meant more so to reduce timonens minutes and keep him fresh. |

It sure was. Losing that initial draw on the PP, kills at least 30 seconds. |

I find it amusing that you can't see that criticizing the media isn't the same as blaming the media.

Not to mention the time and effort to get access to the offensive zone and set up again. |

How hard is it to ignore them? I haven't read anything they have written in months, don't follow any of them on twitter, and wouldn't listen to WIP if someone paid me to. Everyone who rants about how bad they are, can simply tune them all out.
The focus should be on why the wheels are falling off this team, not what the media says or thinks about it. Who gives a rats ass what they say. - PLindbergh31
Kind of like killing Shelley for 2/3 of a season? Thankfully that died down. |

Same story last year. I think they waited far too long to make a move. I have to believe they were considering making a big splash for a while and eventually decided to patch the defense instead. With they would have done that a month or 2 ago when it was pretty clear Pronger was done. - funmaster18
I believe they knew Pronger was done for the year in early or mid December. Holmgren waited two months to get help, in the process Timonen got grinded into dust. |

That's valid. But at the same time, you have to weigh the cost to the benefits. Remember, in December, Bourdon was playing better than expected. They were getting more consistent and solid play from the youngsters...rather than pay the premium, they decided to bet that they could wait it out.
It's also very possible that Timonen is struggling with injury and not fatigue. |

Nah. Not really. Shelley is actually a player. His lack of contributing anything is more of a factor than the media.
It might pick up again, Briere didn't look to great after the game, throw in a 6 hour flight today and I suspect he's going to start getting symptoms. |

I'd think it's both. If he was just fatigued I don't know that he would have logged the least amount of minutes so I have to believe there is some injury there. |

I'm not knocking his effort. I've actually been thrilled with his presence on the team. His decision making is the issue. I know he is a first ballot hall of famer, but he needs to remember that he doesn't have to be "the man" on this team and when he is trying to plow through a blockade at the blueline, he is trying to do too much. It is probably hard for him to change his mindset after being "the man" for so many teams, but he has to remember that all he has to be in Philly is the teammate. If he pulled a give-and-go now and then instead of a stick-handling/bull rush/frequent turnover he may pick up a few tallys on the "go" part. |

as a fan, I like to be able to read a good article about the team or to listen to a good conversation about it. Why shouldn't I complain about it? I think its ridiculous that we can't get good information. How about they do their jobs? its funny how one writer will write a specific piece about a player and all of the rest seem to do the same story. #lazyasses |

it's easy to ignore the media. it's not easy to ignore fans who regurgitate the garbage they read/hear/see when trying to keep up with the team. |
