Don't think we could. We have to resign carle, jagr, grossman, kubina and V. @ i can see happening. Homer likes to get the jump on that sort of thing. |

true, but not even scott howson would trade away a young power forward so he can make room to re-sign a 40-year-old aging legend and 35-year-old lead-legged dman. |

Suter would be great, but will be really expensive.
I mean not just dollars but in years.
What would be the max you would give Suter?
30M for 5 yrs, or is that a pipe dream and too low? - Marc D
i'd be thrilled with something like 8 years 46 mil (5.75 cap hit). but i think it will take at least that. what was kimmo? 6 years 38 mil (6.33)? that's easily possible for suter. if it starts getting up to multiple years at a 7ish cap hit, i think i'd have to pass. i love suter, but that's a ton of money |

Indeed, I'm just saying, experience is a goods thing and these two can help. I would expect Jagr back before Kubina, but if we could resign grossman, he fills in quite nice |

if it's going to take more than a million-or-so per to sign suter than carle, i'd rather just keep carle. don't think there's a multi-million dollar per year difference between the two. |

agreed. if carle is willing to sign before july 1 for something like 6 years and < 30 mil, i wouldn't even wait around to see about suter. basically, if we can get carle for anything less than or equal to 6 years and a sub 5 mil cap hit i'm all for resigning him
if he's looking for more in either of those categories, it gets trickier |

Another person grounded in reality.
My first car that had my name on the title was an '81 VW Jetta Diesel. 50 MPG When Diesel was still cheaper than regular gas. Then an idiot made a left turn from the right lane right in front of me and I t-boned her. I still miss that car. It was gold. As in, the color of the car was gold. |

I like grossman a lot. I l;ike a guy who can play anywhere from 18 to 22 minutes without worry. He doesn't need to score as long as the other team isnt. |

any more than 5.25 per for more than 6 years would not be good, imo. really no idea what direction homer will go.
comparable: yandle gets paid 5.25 per. he's more offensive (avg 5 more points per season than carle since 08-09), but yandle is not counted on defensively nearly as much as carle. most of his shifts start in the offensive zone and he's not matched up against quality forwards. |

For me if Carle is going to cost 5+, I'm scrapping signing him and going after Suter, whatever he costs |

Yandle plays against other teams top lines. I think he is a very underrated defensive defenseman. Personally I would take him over Carle. Anything over the amount you posted I would have to let Carle walk (5.25M). |

I dont disagree. Suter is an all around better defenseman IMO. Only problem is you will have a bunch of teams bidding on Suter and the price is going to be raised higher than expected. I think with Lidstrom hanging the skates up and all the money Detroit has its going to be tough to compete with them for Suter. |

statistics tell a completely different story about yandle, but i cannot say i watch a bunch of 'yotes games. |
