Oh no the entire legion was out at the bar that night, but they split up for post bar festivities. Upshall and Dowd picked helmets, im guessing richie and cartsey picked tail - funmaster18

I can appreciate everyone's passion for the team, and I used to get just as pissed off at a loss/bad effort as some of you guys when I was younger. I remember throwing a beer at a bar TV at the final horn of the '87 Final and getting tossed myself.
I'm just done getting that worked up over a game, though it is sometimes entertaining as hell to read the reactions in here. - tangent_man
Yup. When a sport, something that is supposed to be entertainment is more stressful than anything else in my life, family, job, relationship etc... Something isn't right. |

I want to see a few good games from Giroux, Briere, and Jagr in the next week or so of games... We really need our top forwards to contribute. |

Don't get me wrong, I still yell at the tv during the broadcasts (the Mrs won't sit and watch games with me - she doesn't get it) and use throw pillows as their name implies, but when the game's done, so am I...

I stormed up to my room and wept after the Bob Nystrom goal.
It was a tough few months, what with the O's blowing a 3-1 World Series lead the previous October.
When Kane scored I just kinda sat there in the dark for a few minutes, then came on here to commiserate. |

It took me a long time to reach that state myself. I have too much poop going on to let a Flyers game bum me out for a couple of days. There's the kids, the bills, work, the meth lab in the basement....it's hectic. |

Oh, the Nystrom goal. I have a two week blackout from that one, but I'm pretty sure all the neighborhood pets survived.

I was young and optimistic and was certain they were gonna win that game and Game 7. |

Exactly. The games are a few hours of distraction from the real world.

Passion. Nothing like it. Almost all Mrs think its crazy to yell and scream at the TV. The worst statement "why are you getting mad over a game?". Just dont understand. |

So the home record is absolute crap. Does anyone know if it would be possible to have the players report to a hotel the night before a home game, at like 11:00. Maybe the distractions of being home is what is hurting the team's home record. |

Easier to just fire Lavi. Why waste the money on hotel rooms. Use it towards a new coach.

I'm with ya on that one.
Does it help that the Isles went Dynastic after that? Didn't think so.

Not in the slightest.
I think they gave up 50 PP goals during that series! |

Mine asks why I don't just pick a different team.
No understanding at all. |

I think the Flyers' D is reasonably physical between Meszaros (underrated in that department but doesn't always pick his spots well), Coburn (sporadic but can be effective) and Grossman (physical but clean; not a big board rattler often but never shies away from contact). Kubina is huge and more sneaky-dirty than a banger but is tough to outmuscle in front.
That leaves Carle and Timonen as the finesse/smaller defenseman.
A much, much bigger problem than lack of physicality on defense is the gap between the forwards and D. That causes d-men to have to back in and also limits chances to take the body when there's too much real estate to cover.
Watch the Rangers and other defensively excellent teams: it always seems like there are two of their players in the vicinity of the puck and those passes over the middle just aren't there. Philly's forwards provide defensive puck support only sporadically. Hell, they aren't even that good about rotating someone up high when a D-man pinches. - bmeltzer

That's okay, I don't understand watching ordinary idiots going through their days with cameras capturing their every move, but that's what floats her boat.

Its pretty hard to feel like you have a home ice advantage when fans are booing your goalie for MAKING saves and booing him after he posts a shutout.
Just one point of view on the whole thing.

Speaking of Nystrom.... Did anyone see the hit on Letang last night? I was reading the Penguins blog, and the Pens fans were up in arms over the hit. Bylsma basically said he blamed Letang for putting himself in a prone position.
