I have to laugh BB had stated that the GM he hates most to deal with is Darcy Regier, is that because BB signed Tim Connolly to an over priced contract or is it becasue Darcy makes better deals than BB? Leafs you are my second favorite team your going no where without a goalie.. When was the last time you actually had a decent goalie, same goes for Philly.

regier is shrewd when it comes to dealings. I mean, any GM had to accept that offer. (hodgson) Other than a great deal for Buffalo, he won't make the trade. That's why Burke said that

OK.... so I could not get a direct quote... but I did get CBC, TSN, Tor STAR, Globe and Mail that all state he certainly was promoting the idea.... "or else the idea of the idea of getting him" .............................. so.............. are you blaming the media for perpetuating the story?

I mean, the last one actually stated it (National Post). Its pretty clear (to me) he was tipping his hat towards saying he wanted him.... the media certainly followed and he did played along to the point that NYI complained.

So if Burke did not say it... how did it get perpetuated?

Ughhhh....you still don't get it. Do you not see the difference between Burke saying, we want that top pick (tavares) and Burke saying "Tavares IS coming to Toronto" ? Theres a huge difference there. He didnt say it and if you can;t see that...i dunno what else to say to you.

No it's because Darcy was a douche and stole Leino by giving him TWICE what Burkie would offer

He's said numerous times it's because he and Darcy always have very different opinions of their players - they each over-rate their own and under-rate the others.
