TSN certainly blew this year compared to the competition in terms of breaking trades.

Pretty much, there was 99% more "What teams didn't do or might do" than what they did.

"Just another thing to put into your mental Rolodex come playoff time, when you are deciding whether to root for the Canucks to win the Stanley Cup."

I tried my best to root for the 'nucks last year, but they lost me before game 7 of the CHI series. How can anyone not clouded with the bias of them being their team root for that bunch of whiny ass pansies? And then came the riots.

You won't have to worry about me, Mike in Buffalo.

In terms of coaching, wilson needs to go, a new face is required behind the bench most definitely. In my best opinion, Randy Carlyle a familar face to Burke, makes the most sense since he won the cup with the ducks

Quick breakdown of Ron Wilson coaching stats.

- Never won a cup
- Best year was 1997/98 Eastern Conference Finals with Washington

.531 Total winning percentage average

Leafs last two years - .518/.508

So let me get this straight Mike, since the Leafs missed out on Coho you are advocating leaf land to not cheer for the Nucks in the playoffs? That's pretty sad dude. Who the hell wants Schenn anyways, let alone for Coho. Guess what? The reason Schenn is on your team is because nobody wants him, pure and simple.
komisarek 2.0.

- November-Juliet

It was a pretty odd statement to end the blog with. I don't think anyone ever thought realistically that Schenn could fetch CoHo but to say Schenn is komisarek 2.0 isn't really fair. Sure he hasn't panned out but he still has time to develop into a solid defenseman.

in 3 years those 'kids' are the ones playing for the leafs.
kessel, lupul, phaneuf and macarthur will all be gone.
what better time than now to get high end prospects and picks who will be ready in 3 years?

- Barx

umm.....seriously!?

What does it say about BB if he fires RW a few months after extending him. I think RW stays around to start next season and will have a short leash!

Your not making much sense with the above ....do you really think all of the highlighted players will be gone from the Leafs roster in three years?

Not trading Grabovski is the only one that will really hurt especially if Leafs decide to go another direction and not sign him. The other players will all continue to have possibly similar trade value in the summer if Burke wants to change things up.
- Leafshammer

Signing him to 5+ long term is going to hurt more than watching him walk. Burke must have really truly thought the team would turn it around after the deadline and they'd need Grabo to make the playoffs, which would have been more valuable to us than a 1st rd pick. Either that or he really is planning to give him the farm before Jul. 1. Either way - big mistake.

We should have offered Schenn and Grabovski then...
- SofaKingBored

Grabovski certainly would've helped Vancouver get tougher...

He would strike fear into the Habs fans at local establishments. Not sure if that counts though.

so why quote dreger?
- pens_66

it was stated by many that we were offered a confidtional first round pick for Mac, based on how many playoff games they play or how well they do. The rest were straight up first rounders...all likely being late first rounders.

So, figure all those picks get us NHL ready players in 3-5 years, if not traded right away. Could we trade those picks to effectively replace what those players bring to the table? Hard to say...theres no guarantee trading those players improve the team. Its a gamble other teams are placing on us, so they can improve their team now.

It made no sense for us to gamble some more.

I'd say that's debatable, but Grabo definitely wasn't what they were looking for.

You guys are missing the diamond in the rough with Wilson.

He has never lost a game in the playoffs as the coach of the Leafs! PERFECT RECORD!
