It does. It's good to see them win low scoring games. In the playoffs you can't expect to score 4-5 goals a game. Sometimes 1 goal has to hold up. Winning a game like that inspires confidence that there is an ability to do it. - PLindbergh31
yup this game prepares them mentally for the playoffs
hopefully bryzgalov stays hot
he's doing it at the right time |

this was definitely the most satisfying win in months. Bryz was outstanding, and although the Caps had some great chances, the Flyers showed good energy throughout most of the game.
I'm a very happy camper.

Id take this win over a 5-4 win anyday. Great effort out there, Kubina and Grossman are solid |

no better time, to be honest. Homer has done well, his trade pick ups were nice and we didnt even trade away our 1st. It was another GM who overpaid this time, Homer is doing very well |

When the goaltender plays like he's been playing it makes the wins even better. For me when they win a game 5-4, and it's a sloppy game with poor goaltending it loses some luster. |

also grossman and kubina hitting everything that moves was also a major plus. Grossmans body slam was a beauty! |

I think being lost in the sauce with the shutout and Bryzgalov's stellar play was the fact they didn't take a minor penalty. That's huge playing with that type of discipline. |

Well, Bryz played extremely well, and the Phillies lost a meaningless preseason game to the Yankees.
I imagine all the idiots on WIP will take a brief brake in their Bryz bashing and regale us with insightful comments on how the Phillies can't win the big games against the best teams in the league. |

i kept waiting for the arm to go up, especially when they hit the 5 minute mark. that might be the 2nd game this year they didn't have to kill a penalty. |

Big guys on the back end. They needed to add some size and a physical presence for sure.
Bryz' save % goes from .898 to .903. Nice little jump with one game. |

Yeah. It is the second game. It's enormous. Two of the weaknesses right now are the PK, and faceoffs, staying out of the box minimizes the damage. |

When I heard Barkan say that Bryz had a bad game in Calgary but a better one in Phoenix, the other day I just about gave up on that station. That coming after I heard Jodey McDonald let a fan rip into Bryz for the last loss to the Rangers when Bobrovsky was in net b/c Bryz had the Flu. It's one thing for people to complain it's another for not only the callers, but the hosts to make such gross misrepresentation on the facts. |

it is nice to see him climb over .900, but i don't really care so much about the numbers. i just want him making the saves he's supposed to make and pulling out 1 or 2 big stops a game to bail out his team - essentially give them a chance to win, and he's been doing that for the last few games. he's now played 8 in a row, and that probably has something to do with it.
the stop on knuble was huge. that kind of play probably would have resulted in a goal earlier in the year and could have completely changed the game.
he might be playing a bit angry right now. sometimes that's how you have to play to be effective. |

they get facts wrong all the time. very simple, basic facts. kind of like carchidi talking about shootouts in the playoffs last year. |

Good point. It isn't about the numbers at this point in the season. Regardless of what he does the rest of the regular season his numbers won't be where we want them to be. That being said, as you indicated if he makes the saves he is supposed to make, and comes up with some timely big saves, that is all anyone can ask. This season for him is far from a washout. If he plays well in the playoffs, even if they don't win, it will go a long way in him finding some comfort level playing in Philadelphia. |
