Yeah. It is the second game. It's enormous. Two of the weaknesses right now are the PK, and faceoffs, staying out of the box minimizes the damage.

rinaldo had a big hit on the back boards in the caps end...looked a bit late, a bit dangerous. was surprised he didn't get tagged on that one.

the faceoffs are a problem, and it's really unlikely it will change the rest of the year.

It probably wont change. 60+ games is a pretty good sample of what it's going to be. That's why playing a disciplined game is important. Limit the number of shorthanded defensive zone draws.

Good point. It isn't about the numbers at this point in the season. Regardless of what he does the rest of the regular season his numbers won't be where we want them to be. That being said, as you indicated if he makes the saves he is supposed to make, and comes up with some timely big saves, that is all anyone can ask. This season for him is far from a washout. If he plays well in the playoffs, even if they don't win, it will go a long way in him finding some comfort level playing in Philadelphia.

about 2 weeks ago i really felt he wouldn't come around this year. i'm starting to change my mind. i've said all along he just didn't suddenly forget how to play goal when he pulled on the flyers jersey. the ability is there. i really hope he puts a strong run down the stretch and in the playoffs so the negative talk doesn't hang a cloud over the summer and be the one thing that everyone focuses on before the start of next season.

Exactly. I'm not expecting a Cup this year. I would be happy if they win a round, Bryzgalov plays well and we avoid the carousel nonsense, and guys like Couturier, Schenn, Read get some valuable playoff experience. If they get beat by a better team, but play well so be it.

if he's solid and making key saves, he doesn't have to be superman.

yep. a cup isn't realistic with the youth and turnover in personnel. if they beat nj or pittsburgh in the first round and bow out after that, i can live with it, especially if bryz is solid and not blamed for the loss.

Sounds good to me. I think they can beat NJ, Pittsburgh would be a tall task. But they can definitely be competitive. Boston is playing like total garbage. The only team I think they would have zero chance to beat would be the Rangers. And based on what we have seen thus far how could anyone think otherwise.

kubina and grossman should help as well. they were both solid tonight. too many failed clears for my liking but they got the job done in the end.

Kimmo Timonen and Andrej Meszaros out indefinitely with lower-body injuries. Sounds like a long time, no?

I'm guessing now that they'll both be back Tuesday. Because every time Seravalli has just assumed something he's ended up with egg on his face.

the pens are flying right now, and i agree they'd be tough. boston is falling apart, and their injuries are probably taking a toll. rask is out now, so that's a lot of pressure on thomas. anton khudobin is their only goalie in the system with ANY nhl experience, but he's hurt, too. the rangers are just machine-like and find a way to win almost every single night. agree the flyers have little chance in beating them, but you never know. the playoffs are a different animal, and the rangers will actually have pressure on them for the first time in years to do something once the post season rolls around. sometimes a team gets owned all year and then does a 180 in the playoffs on the opposition.

Nailed it. Spot on sir. Rangers also might have trouble with secondary scoring in the playoffs. Other than Gaborik, Richards, and Callahan, who is going to score big goals for them in the playoffs? Something to keep in mind.

Out indefinitely came directly from Holmgren. Usually if something is minor he will say day to day. The only time indefinitely really is used is with concussions, since these are LBI, indefinitely is somewhat alarming to me.

I think it's just Holmgren's way of not being held to an early prognosis. So many times either by the media or the fans, he has been accused of not being forthright or honest. So out indefinitely should be used.

See. Not to me. Because I think they're just tired of the "you said x days and it was y days and why are you lying to us!!! WWWAAAAHHHH!!!!"

And what difference does it make, really? They are out as long as they are out and there's nothing Homer can do to replace them. I'm guessing that he knew about Kimmo before he made the trades. Maybe even knew about Meszaros.

And guess what. They won game 1 without them. On to Tuesday. Tough game against Detroit. And they never win when it's a special event night. Let's see them turn that around.

Yeah I forgot about Stepan. He's a really good young player. Rangers sum is better than their parts. They have the best goaltender in the sport by far right now, 4 very good d-men, a system they never stray from, and some guys that can score. It's a great mix.... My hate for them has returned in a big way. They haven't been significant enough to hate in a while, this group is downright detestable. Especially since the ultimate douche is behind the bench.

See, I can't hate them. If they were the Flyers I'd love them. (Which is not to say I do not love these Flyers, because i do.)

I hate the Bruins. HATE. Lucic gets away with ever dirty thing he does. He must get bonuses for rabbit punches after the play.

That's certainly a fair take on it it as well. Who knows really what the injuries are. Meszaros left practice, so it appears he didn't get injured in the game vs. the NYI. Timonen I think is a cumulative issue. Wear and tear all year has taken it's toll. Too many high stress minutes for a guy of his stature and age. Rest might do him some good in the long run.

I would love to see them get 2 points on Mark Howe night, Detroit isn't without their problems. No Datsyuk, Lidstrom, or Jimmy Howard Tuesday most likely. And Detroit is basically around a .500 road team. It is a winnable game for sure.

They have beaten the Flyers like a drum all year, it's really bothered me, because outside of the goaltender, I think the Flyers are equal if not more talented, the fact that it looks like Tortorella is outcoaching Laviolette really gnaws at me.

And I hate the Bruins as well. Equally so. I have a friend who is a Bruins fanatic, he made my life a living hell last year when they won the Cup.

i don't find them douchey in general, but fonzie, richards, and fedetenko bug me big time. fonzie was crying like a female dog today at a puck over the glass call that was actually the right call. he deserved a bench minor, didn't get one.

i don't really hate the rangers. i hate their fans. always have. always will.

Speaking of that, did you see the Fonz spike the puck like a toddler in a sandbox who didn't get their toy when the call didn't go his way? I wanted to jump through my tv and put a hot poker in the corner of his eye.

i did. just can't stand that a-hole. as solid as a team game as the rangers play, i'm amazed by the amount of garbage they score night in and night out. 3 of their 4 goals today were gifts.
