Pretty sure he was having back spasms or issues with the injury - Jsaquella
For some reason I'm thinking it was a hand injury, could be mistaken. This is a really unfortunate time to lose him with this tough stretch of games (13 in 20). Best case is that they hold the fort and timmonen is able to recouperate and recharge his batteries for the playoffs
Frank Seravalli @DNFlyers
Kimmo Timonen and Andrej Meszaros out indefinitely with lower-body injuries. Sounds like a long time, no?
I'm guessing now that they'll both be back Tuesday. Because every time Seravalli has just assumed something he's ended up with egg on his face. - bodiva88
Missed the game tonight. Wife had me going to dinner at her aunt's place tonight at...you guessed it....7PM She gave me all of two days notice on Friday, after we got done dodging tornadoes here in Kentucky...."Oh by the way, while we're feeling a bit warm and fuzzy about having an intact home and being alive, how would you feel about dinner at my aunt's while that game you want to watch is going on... ". Ah well family first. Nice to see Bryz come up big. Wellwood always seems to make an impact when he gets the call. Good trait for a call-up guy to have.
I saw earlier than Timmo and Mez are out "indefinitely". I have grown to hate that word this season. Feel a bit better about it now that it has been revealed that it is a lower body deal. Hopefully it is more of a day-to-day kind of indefinite. Actually I don't care as much if they can tread water until the playoffs. That is when I want Mez and especially Timmo back in decent shape.
Well hopefully his info is good. I'm OK if Kimmo is out two weeks as long as they don't nosedive. He needs a break anyway. Get him back healthy for the playoffs.

If Kimmo has a herniated disc in his lower back that is something that will nag him the rest of the year and may need surgery to fix in the off season.
Saying he will be better in 2 weeks is pretty unrealistic.
Sorry to be a downer but back in 2 weeks and herniated disc does not add up.

He's basically done for the year if he has a herniated disc.
We're lucky to have traded for Pavel Kubina. Kubina is capable of playing at the same level as Kimmo Timonen. - roenick97
I disagree 100%. Kubina is nowhere near Kimmos league. Kimmon on a bad night is still typically a more stable and reliable rearguard than Kubina.
Not a knock on Kubina or the addition either. The fact that Homer went out and got Grossman and Kubina certainly helps the injuries, but our defense is pretttty scary right now
Carle-Lilja?
Kubina-Grossman?
Coby-Gusty?
Thats badddd news for the Flyers and their final push..

Timonen and Meszaros will be back. And that scary defense just played a shutout game last night. Playoffs are a month away.
I think that is jumping to conclusions. I have no doubt that Timonen will be back to play again this year. And probably sooner rather then later. - MJL
Absolutely. There are so many types of different temporary treatments for HNP. 2 weeks is feasible, but it is also important to note that his play of late has probably been a reflection of this injury.. It is likely that he wont return at even 75%. He will likely be slowed a bit, and not nearly as strong as he normally is along the boards and in front.
Time for Coby and co. to pick it up (and i thought they did yesterday).

Bryz made 34 saves... a bunch of them very tough in close saves. On top of that there were a bunch of other chances where the blame was on the Caps for dropping the ball.. OV splitting the D and then taking the pass off the heel of his stick for example.
All together I thought they stepped up and played a very solid game.. but if this is a 2-3 week deal, and we are talking 10 games... that could be bad news.. thats all im saying

yea, sometimes nerve blocks are effective. there's no one prognosis for an HNP, but kimmo being older and it likely being a degenerative process doesn't make me optimistic.

That's what a Goalie is supposed to do. There are levels of defense. No doubt that potentially not having Timonen and Meszaros weakens the team. But it doesn't have to be doom and gloom. They still have some good players back there. Last night showed the depth of this defense.
