Your main point though, is dead on. If you really want your building to be tough to play in, marketing towards the entire family is not the way to go. Philadephia games are full of bumholes. At the same time, those bumholes are what make the building an intimidating place to play.

Part of the problem is they upped security in a big way. If I had to guess, 25-30%.


Also because the Sabres are the in thing recently (the last 7yrs), way to many clueless fans in the stands that have no clue what they're watching.

They needed to come out of that trip four points back of 8th to have a decent shot at it. They did. Last night would have been nice for a win, and there are still some kinks to work out, but they did look workable.

Even in 2007, when Philly was at the bottom of the league, it was still a tough place to play. The building was loud, and so were the fans. Is it better when the team is playing better? Sure. But there are markets where this isn't as big of a problem, even when the team isn't playing well.

At the same time, Buffalo fans were all to eager too sell their tickets to Toronto and Montreal folks because it helped them pay off their investment. That's not bad econonical thinking, but if you are the great hockey market you like to beat your chest in front of the rest of the country and say you are, that shouldn't be a problem.
