so you think that vanek is overpaid but nash isnt?
nash has the exact same ppg as vanek does over his career and the exact same % of points as goals? theyre basically the same player, and nash has a cap hit of 7.8M for the next 6 years while vanek has 7.1M for the next 2.
you can definitely argue that nash is a better leader than vanek, but is that worth .7M more each year for the next 6 years? for a guy that has averaged 60 pts a year over his career? - adubs14
oh dear lord do we really need to open this debate again?? weren't you here yesterday for it??
Nash is a very good 2-way player. he has 3 times as many hits and takeaways as Vanek does. Vanek has played with much much better talent around him whereas Nash has had pitiful players around him.
Vanek has had the same coach and system to play in his entire career while Nash has had what 3 different? |

was not here yesterday, but thanks for the recap. ill agree with your points on hits and takeaways, and nash does kill penalties (which i think vanek could do but lindy doesnt trust him)
BUT I still think nash is overpaid...it wouldn't be so bad if it was for 2 more years like vanek, but for 6 more years at almost 8M a year, thats a lot of cap space to be committing to. |

maybe i have always overvalued roy but i don't buy that these two are that comparable. roy is only 1 year older and leads every statistic against him (i know he has more nhl games). and grabovski has never played an nhl playoff game. - buffalokb
Both 2nd line centers
Both think shoot 1st
Both take lazy penalties

He may but he was always the 3rd line centerman in Ottawa. |

Nash has very comparable stats as Vanek does but Nash has played with the likes of Umberger, Zherdev, Filatov, Huselies, Brassard, and Carter (shortly)
Vanek has played with Briere, Drury, Roy, Pommer, Afinogenov, Stafford, Ennis, Gerbe, and Hodge (shortly)
What group do you think is better to have around you?
Nash with even Roy centering him would make his stats be even better.
Let alone Nash with a Getzlaf/Stastny/Backstrom/Staal type center |

Agreed. Roy has more time spent on 1st line so his production is through the roof when compared to Grabo.
I think we just need to trade Roy immediately. I watched every second of the game last night and I was disgusted.
Leino - Hodge - Pommer
Vanek - Ennis - Stafford
Gerbe - Roy - Kaleta

Men vs boys.....
Easily could have been 7-1 Jets....
Brought you guys back down to earth in a hurry...
Signed,
Winnipeg hockey fans - jetsfan6
I think we did just fine on the roadie 3-1 against western teams. They played like they were tired all game yesterday which does not surprise me. Miller kept it close. Your men vs boys tirade is a little off. You guys after last night are only 4 points head of us with 16 games left and a game in hand. The jets just played a very long home stand buffalo just played a very long west coast road trip. Cant win them all especially on the road. Buffalo is making a run it will be interesting to watch. |

Simply we are not going to win every game. That was the last game of a western road trip going 3-1. I'm happy with the effort on this trip for sure. The boys are back home and get a day off i'm sure the will have more pep to there step tomorrow. |

Without looking it up I think Kelly makes around 2mil.
I'd gladly take him at 2.3-2.5 as the 3rd line guy here. |

jets fans are now my 2nd most hated fans. i could care less how loud they were because they seem to think it effects players, they they are professionals, so it doesn't. i understand it is canada, but chanting silver medal was classless, that's like us going in there and taunting them about how they lost their team and got the thrashers instead. |

Yea that clearly had to be a homer that made that post.
I mean sometimes you have to take things into consideration ..yeesh.
The Sabres did great on that road trip.
If someone asked me If I would take 3-1-0 on that west coat trip 4 games in 6 nights I would have said HELL YES !
Great job boys , pick it back up at home on Wednesday against the Canes who will have played the night previous (tonight) against the Caps and then travel to Buffalo.
Beat the Caps tonight Canes , then play lethargic Wednesday please...just roll over |

I am confused. What is wrong with putting Vanek - Ennis - Stafford together then?
leino and Pommer played great together. Hodge needs to be our #1 center. Roy needs to be away from Vanek. I solved all of those problems. haha. |

At this point, I would drop TV to the 2nd/3rd line.
Can't flog him, can't bench him; this is a viable option.

WPG was playing a TOUGH swarming stick slappy D last night. there were like a swarm of bees. I know Ennis might have missed a shot a few times but for all we know someone had slapped down on his stick to prevent him of the shot or raised his stick during his shot.
not excuses but if we are gonna point fingers like that... the blame needs to go to the 14M front line. |

Because Vanek is a head case and gets more frustrated with himself than any player I have ever watched in 28yrs of watching hockey.
Only Vanek can fix Vanek right now. |
