and jets do terrible on the road... so if anything its evidence FOR the fact that long road trips do play a factor.
regardless, winnipeg wasn't tired after 8 games at home and having only played 2 games in a week. so them traveling more often really doesnt matter for this specific game - Putzfrau
teams usually come out slow when they have had more rest, thats why you always hear coaches and players say they rather not have so many days between games
you cant discount all the traveling the jets had/have to do
especially when a bunch of buff fans pretty much were saying they were going to win this game and be in the playoffs
and for such a big game, buffalo didnt come prepared, and there can be no excuses for that |

i absolutely agree, but to deny that some things do sometimes play a part is foolish.
it doesnt excuse our loss, or mean its the reason for the loss, merely a contributing factor. buffalo could and should have overcome this fact and played better hockey. they didn't and lost. it's not the end of the world.
oh, and i'm sure "a bunch of buff fans" have been saying something to that effect all year. that argument can pretty much always be made because every sports team has a group of fans of that type. |

Ok, well thanks New Jersey fan for coming here to quantify that the Sabres performance tonight was not all circumstantial. Because circumstance isn't a factor in sports. Only what a team is on paper. |

i know you didnt exactly bring it up, but using the "west coast travel" excuse doesnt work well when your talking about jets even when you play 4 games in 6 nights or whatever, the jets have to pretty much do that ALL season not just for part of a season, a few games
so throw that excuse out the window - dmarsden2988
The Jets have been in the midst of a long home stretch. If they had just gotten home from a killer trip (of which I do realize they've had many) it would be one thing. But the ice was obviously tipped in their favor.
That being said, the Sabres needed to work harder and push past that. They got 6 pts out of 8 on this trip. Honestly, that was more than any of us probably expected they'd get. |

I think most of us expected to split and get 4/8... Getting 6 is great, it took the scheduling advantage others thought they had over us last week away.... |

They were completely gassed in that third period.
That was Buffalo's 4th game in 6 nights.
That was Winnipegs 2nd game since LAST MONDAY, and it was the end of an EIGHT GAME homestand. - theblueandgold
The Jets have a bunch of road games in the final stretch of the season. They are horrible on the road. Unless Florida tanks the division, Winnipeg will have a tough time making the playoffs. |

I haven't lost any respect for my Sabres for losing tonights game. Yeah winning would have been more fun. But it would have starting bordering on insane.
I don't know what team in the Eastern Conference you could have sent to Anaheim, San Jose, Vancouncer and Winnepeg in 6 nights and won all four games. It certainly wouldn't be Winnepeg. |

I'm really concerned about our 3rd period play recently. They really need to tighten things up in the 3rd if they want to continue to make a push. They also need to move some guys around I think. Pommer has been too quiet for too long now. He needs different line mates. |

I realize that it is all doom-and-gloom right now for Sabre fans, but in all reality taking 3 out of 4 games of a road trip is pretty freakin impressive, especially when its against the type of competition they faced.
Yes, this was a big game, but the fact of the matter is that the Sabres are nowhere near done this season. Miller seems to be playing like the Miller of old and everyone knows he can carry this team on his back if needed. I'm glad he is playing better as I was extremely surprised by his play this season.
There is no denying that the MTS Centre is a tough place to play. Stack on top of that the fact that your team is playing 4 games in 6 nights and the chances of pulling out a win are just that much more difficult.
As for the guys posting stuff about Canadians.....thats just offside. Sorry boys and girls but I draw the line with putting down someone's nationality. I know it can get heated in here, but I do try to show some modicum of respect (Unless its a Leaf fan of course).
Don't worry too much, I expect your team to go on a run here and post some pretty significant wins. I would love to see the Sabres take the 8th spot away from the Sens as I think the Sens club will go into a skid.
Good luck !! |

Don't understand why this game worried more than the Vancouver/San Jose/Ducks games, just knew it was going to be a downer, so wasn't really disappointed when they lost, half expected it, lot of hockey they have played.
More importantly will be how they go next game at home, looking for a very solid effort to get back to winning again, I think Vanek gets some points next game. |

So how long will Roy be allowed to ruin Pominville and Vanek on a line? It is past being a coincidence with Vanek and Roy. |

Hopefully not much longer. It's tiring watching that line play together |
