Great blog Bill. I have thoroughly enjoyed reading all of your pieces on Howe. Very well done.
Question, other than Howe, would you know the list of defensemen post 53-54, who never won a Stanley Cup, or Norris Trophy that made it to the Hall of Fame? - PLindbergh31
Like the new quote, hate the Eli pic. Win some and lose some I suppose |

He's saving it for the playoffs. Don't worry about Briere. - PLindbergh31
It's a legitimate concern. He's never been this cold during the regular season as a member of the Flyers. |

He's been battling injuries, and has had a revolving door of linemates, not an excuse for him, but certainly explains his struggles. I think once he scores a goal, that will get him going. He's been getting chances, just not finishing them right now. |

He needs to find chemistry with someone - and he needs to find it himself. |

Yeah, as Bill pointed out in yesterday's blog, Briere appears to be on the brink of breaking out. |

I love Briere and i love what he does in the playoffs...He needs to start lighting it up now to get into that playoff mode... |

Would be nice. With the lineup shorthanded they could use his offense right now. When a goal scorer is in a slump, getting that first one is the biggest hurdle. Once he pots it, I think he will start scoring with some regularity. |

"Today will be a day long remembered..." - MJL Darth Vader
My mom-in-law's all-time favorite Flyer is also Mark Howe. She was able to get him to sign her #2 Howe jersey a year or two ago. I am in charge of the DVR while my wife and her mom go to tonight's game. I'll have to ask the girls to DVR DNL before they leave.
As my all-time favorite Flyers d-man is the same as yours, John, this is a sweet day for me also. I imagine it is for you, too. Just wish Brad could've been here. - Flyskippy
It would have been cool if McCrimmon could have been at the HHOF induction and tonight's event. |

Yeah... I got choked up watching the HHOF induction on the DVR this past weekend.
The first thing I thought of, when I heard the news (and every time McCrimmon's been mentioned since), was McCrimmon's sister whom I was able to talk to several years back for business reasons. For whatever reason, hockey came up and she told me who her brother is. I went into fanboy mode and said, "He was my favorite Flyers defenseman. Trading him was the worst Flyers trade ever!"
Anyway, I thought of her upon hearing the news and have kept the whole family (as well as those of the other victims) in my thoughts and prayers. *sigh* |

The first 3 goals there were scored by flyers, a fact which I constantly remind pens fans and my x girlfriend - flyers4487

That was the first pens fan I dated, was one of the reasons she broke up with me. The 2nd one had nothing to do with it.
Will never date a women who hates the flyers again, in fact being as shallow as I am, in order to date me you have to look good in a flyers jersey |

I know the majority doesn't care about college hoops, but what a tough loss for Drexel last night. They had won 19 games in a row heading into the CAA Championship game last night. Unfair that they had to play VCU in Richmond. These Conf Championship games should be played on a neutral court.
With Villanova having a down year, unless St. Joe's wins the Atlantic 10 Title, looks like Temple will have to carry the mail for Philadelphia this year. March Madness is really fantastic.
/end of college hoops talk. |

Hi Bill,
Just an FYI. It's no longer called the Wachovia Center... Though I miss calling it the "WalkAllOverYou" Center or the "Wacko" Center...
"Then again, the Flyers have not been as good at home (15-10-5) as they have away (21-11-2) from the Wachovia Center." |

Under Laviolette, they have been better on the road. If they could somehow channel the road mentality at home, they would be all the better. |

I recall you telling that story before, and I agree. Losing the Beast was an awful trade for the Flyers.
Glad you enjoyed the CD |

Nope. I don't believe anything I hear regarding injuries. Especially this time of year. Teams play it very close to the vest. Everyone has said Timonen has a back injury, yet the Flyers announced it as a LBI. No sense in getting caught up with the bogus reports and updates. |
