Good thing is this is a quality opponent they beat tonight. Yea Detroit has injuries, but the Flyers have some pretty significant ones too (and added to them during the game). I've liked the last 2 wins, but wanted to see them beat a really quality opponent. They did it tonight.

Can they start picking up steam at the perfect time of the season? Keep it going

Unlike 2004, the Flyers traded FOR defensemen instead of trading AWAY defensemen.

We are a pretty knowledgeable group in here. Almost all of us believed the best way to get Bryz where he needs to be was to ride him, and ride him some more.

Bryz is now playing like the guy we thought we were getting when they signed him. And it couldn't be coming at a better time.

I didn't say he purposefully targeted his head. The principal point of contact was the head. And as was already pointed out, it wasn't at the last second or simultaneous with the hit where Voracek got in that position. It's in my opinion without question a suspendable and illegal hit.

I agree. I said in a earlier post that it wasn't a penalty in terms of being an elbow or a charge or anything like that. But it was a clear hit to the head that Kronwall had time to avoid.

Sometimes, hits to the head happen because one or both players is moving so fast, or in an unanticipated manner, that the hit can't be avoided. I don't think this was such a case. Kronwall has all day to line him up, and could still have made a very effective play, and a crushing hit with out hitting Voracek in the head. He chose not to do so. It's that conscious decision to hit Voracek in the head that makes it a reviewable/suspendable hit in my opinion.

That said, I still want to see a Flyer rip Zetterberg's head off with a similar hit. That's the only way to stop a guy like Kronwall, is to start making his teammates pay for his decisions.

HEY. Don't say that yet! You might jinx it

The Flyers have played a couple of games now with a committed defensive effort to checking. backed up by very good goaltending. There have been a lot of comments made by some of how weak the team's defenseman are. Theses last few games when they have a team structure have shown that's clearly not the case.

Good point. Nothing else of value to give up other than a # 1. Maybe in retrospect it's better off that the deadline isn't Friday.

The amazing thing about the 5 key players being out, that doesn't include Pronger.

because even that little shove got them 2 minutes. as much as i wanted them to go and kill him, i imagine the coaching staff was more concerned about the 2 points.

however, as zetter cruised in one particuar moment i noticed on a power play entry they could have cleanly and legally destroyed him. and i wish they had.

On another note. What is the contingency when the Flyers reach their limit on callups. Will they have to play with a shorthanded roster if there are not enough healthy bodies?
