The only one I could see him giving a home town discount to would be Minnesota, because he lives up there (wife's home neighborhood). - bodiva88
They're probably not going to be good for 2-3 more years though. Not sure he'd want to be patient like that. And I'm not suggesting he'll take a hometown discount, just suggesting that he'd turn down 5.75 per year from a team like Carolina to play for the Wings or Flyers for 5 or 5.25 per.

You never know. Carle could take the years and money. It seems to me that he wants to be paid fairly and the Flyers are still weighing their options before making that commitment.

Sure, but I think what happened with Wiz last year will scare guys. Jackets look like an up-and-coming team. Added Carter. Boom. Worst season ever. Carter gone. Nash soon, too. Just for an extra 5-10%?
Mikhail Grabovski's newly signed five-year contract is worth $27.5 million. Grabovski will now come with a cap hit of $5.5 million, which is the second highest on the Maple Leafs. That's quite a lot for Grabovski, who set a new career-high with 58 points last season and is likely to finish a bit below that in 2011-12. Grabovski is a great secondary scorer, but the Maple Leafs are now paying him money worthy of a first liner. He's 28 years old and we don't expect him to get much better than he already is.

Are you kidding me with this signing? Matt Carle should get 6.5M on the open market based on this deal. - stveshdy
Drastic overpayment. Just because Burke forgot to take his meds, doesn't mean the Flyers should go crazy and start overpaying guys. With the contract James Neal just signed, JVR looks like a bad contract right now.

You're out to lunch.
Neal is a year and a half older and has had the benefit of an extra full season in the NHL and a full season of the AHL under his belt. Let's see where JVR is two years from now.

Probably concussed and out for the season, or a healthy scratch lol
