I think you're confused on the play. The initial call was the roughing against Tootoo. That call was delayed while the Kings had the puck. The whistle was blown after Tootoo collided with Clifford in the Kings zone, which the officials viewed as interference on Clifford. - GregDM
Hate to disagree but I had a front row seat and the first call should have been the interference against the Kings and when they played it it should have been whistled dead...only after play kept going did Tootoo (out of sheer frustration) commit the roughing call to make it coincidental minors...The refs blew that call (and many subsequent others on both teams) all night.
I'm still peeved that we scored 4 damn goals and didn't win....made my frosty taste like sorrow. |

I think everyone was confused on the play. Tootoo was interfered with at the blue line after he chipped the puck into the offensive zone. It was clear interference as two Kings players impeded the progress of Tootoo when he didn't have the puck. That's when the referee's hand went up. Quick was confused and wasn't sure when to leave the net because the ref didn't blow the whistle when the Kings gained possession. There was no roughing by Tootoo prior to the collision with Clifford. None that I could see on the replay anyway. If there was roughing at some point before that collision, I'd like to know what it was because Tootoo was in possession of the puck until 5 seconds before that collision. If he committed a penalty prior to that, the whistle should've blown when he had the puck.
It was a jacked up call. Not saying that both players didn't deserve to be in the box, because Tootoo did rough him. But I don't think it would've happened in that sequence had the ref been clear about the call. Watch it again on your DVR. It's a strange sequence of events.

I'll definitely take a look. I assumed that Tootoo first took a retaliation penalty after getting hit along the boards, but I didn't see it myself. |

Bad game all around. Refs were awful but not the difference. I expect nothing less from a Stephan Auger reffed game. Forget the NHL, that guy has no business reffing even pee wee hockey.
Hopefully this game serves as a wake call. |

The roughing was the way tootoo threw the guy down who was impeding his progress trying to chip and go. If you watch tootoo's arm, he did a little extra that they called roughing. The make up call was interference when tootoo was pursuing the puck and ran into the kings player. It was a makeup call for the bad one on tootoo if you ask me, but tootoo's penalty was first

I'm not going to be a chicken little here but....ok maybe just a little bit. This team needs to get their act together and go into the playoffs with a rush, not a limp. Suter seemed to be...erm...distracted maybe? See what I did there? I like Smith a lot but he looked like a rookie big time last night. Too many sloppy passes and no look passes. Sit Toots and Smith. I'd rather have Hali and Yip in right now then those 2. |

On a different note, Gill and Buillon may be the oddest looking defensive pair, ever.
It's weird to watch the Predators and think that their strength is in their forwards. You've got a really quick team. Past Weber and Suter, I think there are some weaknesses on D (surprising for Nashville). Ellis and Josi were both plus players last night, but I think they get exposed in the cycle game since neither are very strong. |

Smith may be this years Wilson. Plays a ton in the regular season, but sits in the postseason. I just hope it has the same effect, and he has to be better at clearing the zone |

He has to get bigger in the off-season. He's been getting pushed off of the puck way too easily all season. |

Quick, name a Predator who hasn't.
People in my section have been commenting all season on how the Preds are so easily pushed off the puck and how they lose the battles along the boards 90% of the time.
It's not just one guy. |

I agree that it is not just one guy, but with the new additions, trotz can afford the luxury of sitting smith. He is no longer needed on the power play now that we have AK46 and he has become a defensive liability while his scoring and playing time have decreased. i like smith a lot, but think for right now we have better options |

I hope it's just because we are young.
I remember Erat getting pushed off pretty easily when he was younger, now it's pretty rare that he doesn't come out of the corner with the puck. |

This could be the game that fans look back and say "that's where we fell off the track." hopefully, I'm wrong and our coaching staff and team leadership can get the team refocused. We need to start this big road trip off by first winning two big home games. Let's go Preds! |

When he was young he had arkipov as his center. I'd say he has more reason to win the puck these days! JK |

Not a quick answer to D's question and one already alluded to by others here, but Erat has looked strong and is overall playing good hockey. Last night was no exception.
Btw, Preds are fine. We may not be able to catch Blues/Wings but I see zero wheels falling off this team. Rather, I see many other teams playing much better than they were and with greater determination/desire/intensity which the Preds have yet to fully match. I'm pretty sure Preds will do just that. |

The Kings were still mad from last week!!! The preds took the game lightly. I knew the preds were screwed when I saw Auju' and Shampooooo working the game.

In Tent City.
Heard interesting tidbit from Callahan & Grimson last night: Patric became first drafted Pred to have three 20+ goal-seasons in a row.
 Go #27! |

Wasn't #27 the last pick in his draft?
What should we expect from #2? |

Tootoo should be suspended for the rest of the year, no place in hockey for a player to punch an official. - Scooby_Doo
but there is plenty of room for a team full of divers and just enough room for Burrows to bite fingers. |

Yep. The Hornster was dead last - #230 in the 7th and final round.
Meanwhile, out of that draft, he currently stands in 8th place for goals scored and 14th for points. And he's in 6th place for plus/minus out of that same group.
Not too shabby a pick. Go Patric! |
