I think it's done to keep teams from depleting their AHL teams. Would be unfair to that league, their teams and their fans. It's part of a working relationship. - bradleyc4

Thus far, this has been a more "typical" Flyers season, in that they historically have been red hot in Nov-Dec, struggled in January and February and then seem to come on again in March (while piling up injuries). It was that way with the Keenan teams, Lindros era spanning Terry Murray to Roger Neilson, Bill Barber and Hitchcock clubs up to Stevens teams. Not sure why. - bmeltzer

So, in discussing this two line pass thing, a semi-serious part of me thought that bringing back the two line pass would force Flyer forwards to pay more attention to their gaps. They would be forced to keep it closed up.
But I am just thinking out loud, and not all that seriously....

I'd hate to drag down the entire league due to the sloppiness of one team! |

Who cares about the rest of the league? We are Philadelphia sports fans, there are no other teams in any of the leagues.

Hockey is a physical sport, and an 82 game season is a grind, but I have never seen any franchise be ravaged by injuries year after year in any sport like this one has. Not only key injuries at the worst possible times (see Tim Kerr), but career ending injuries, Lindros, Primeau, Pronger and so on. Throw in the tragic situation with Pelle Lindbergh, and to me, it seems like a black cloud is hanging over this Organization. - PLindbergh31
Don't forget Tertishney (not sure of spelling). |

Hopefully. Using a 7th d-man makes more sense then a zero playing 3-4 minutes. |

Shelley has played well when given the opportunity. He dominates those 3-4 mins per night. |

perfect flyers dman. threw big hits. got completely lost in his own end. couldn't handle the puck even a tad. one of clarke's shrewder moves. - OrangeBlack27
It was a impulse buy. The Straka hit + contract extension = worst 150 bones i have ever spent. My friends still break my balls about it to this day |

Plus he sits quietly and doesn't complain when the skill forwards get his extra ice time.

As well they should! You have good friends to point out the egregiousness of that mistake.

The flyers have had more than their share of freak accidents, etc, Yanick Dupre with Leukemia, Tim Kerr's wife died during child birth.
One would think sooner or later the injury thing would even out.
May be time to put William Penn on a large pedestal so he looks over the other buildings in the city. |

Apparently Harry Z is an emergency re-call. So the Flyers still have one re-call available to them. Not that it matters much. |
